City's main problem, is that in the eyes of all the top foreign footballers that they constantly court, they are a small, relatively unknown, club, who happen to have a multi billionaire owner with money to burn.....Enticing them to Eastlands is pretty easy, keeping them happy is another matter, simply because most of the players think they are actually bigger than the club.
Its the equivalent of Athletico Madrid becoming super-rich overnight and being able to lure all the big names to their club.....Ultimately, they might be rich and eventually successful, but in terms of heritage and respect, they would remain forever in Real's shadow.
City have a similar problem with United......Why was Tevez content to warm the bench at OT, yet a month stewing on the sidelines at City sends him over the edge?
Before anybody accuses of me being an Evertonian living in Liverpool's shadow, then I admit I have my hands up....We have a similar problem and its part of the reason that I am extremely wary of a billionaire turning up and suddenly being able to fetch in superstars of the game, all looking to line their pockets, while all the time making sure their agents are sniffing out their next big pay day.
I don't think City can do anything to remedy this.....Its all part of being super-rich. Like when you win the lottery and suddenly find yourself overrun with begging letters, similarly City find themselves burdened with talented, temperamental footballers looking for a fast buck.
