Anyway, I don't know why Ayre is bringing it up Man Utd, City and Chelsea could sell their rights for more anyway

I don't know enough about finance, fan base and the rest of it to understand who has the bigger things and so on, but judging by our shirt sponsorship deals, we must be pretty highly thought of in a commercial sense. Our owners/'suits' seem to talk us up a lot, which is to be expected, but they regularly mention things about our support in Asia and so on. Even if we've not been as successful on the pitch, I think it's fair to say we have an established brand, whilst I'm sure our fan base in foreign countries is comparable, if not superior to Chelsea's, Arsenal's and easily bigger than City's.

Depends on how fickle the Kuala Lumpur people Ayre speaks of are, for all we know they could be taken in by the City bandwagon and have moved on from Liverpool, if they have any sense !

In all seriousness, it's a good post Rob, I don't think Ayre would speak of such a move if he hadn't projected some sort of massive financial income. You only have to look at the turn out for the pre season games in Malaysia, I think it was, when the stadium was full with, probably, locals who wore Liverpool shirts as oppose to their own local side. It's a market Liverpool and United would easily be able to clean up the only concern is what it'll lead to in the future and where it would leave football.

Not confirmed by Utd yet, his agent is the one that's said it but United have denied it.

Which Buchan is this? My mum used to have an uncle called Willie Buchan who played for Celtic and Blackpool around the war period. Same fella?

nah Roddy,he must be talking about the legend that was Martin Buchan,a really solid centre half in the Pallister & Bruce mould - watched him oodles of times in the 70s for United and was annoyingly solid, especially against the mighty THFC.....fine player and worthy of a place next to Billy McNeill in any all-time jock line up surely ?

sorry Artist but Dave McKay HAS to be in the starting 11 - he was a superman in the half back line and had everything ! One of the real all-time greats of world soccer not just north of the border - I would also put Bill Brown in goal who was way superior to Andy Goram IMO - in more 'modern' times even the great David Harvey was more reliable than Goram ! Harvey was just unlucky to have Gary Sprake as no.1 at Elland Road...

A friend of mine played against Harvey in a local league game a few years after he'd retired as a pro. Harvey was a mate of the team manager and was helping him out during an injury crisis. Apparently Harvey was the most creative player on the pitch. He didnt make any special saves but his distribution was a real eye opener to the amateur lads. They were having to drop players back into defense because Harvey was creating so many chances with his clearances. Just emphasised the gulf between the pros and good amateurs.

3 match international ban for Rooney. Glorious news. 8) Won't be missed as according to this forum he is a disgrace/average/not worthy of the shirt etc. Looing forward to Bent and Zamora up front.

Rooney deserves his ban and they shouldn't take him. Like we'll even get out of the group stages. If, by some minor miracle, we did, then he wouldn't deserve to be brought back in anyway.
