The ban is fully deserved. What Rooney did was unprovoked, needless, violent, dangerous and downright stupid.
All of this from a player with 73 international caps - the "he's inexperienced" excuse doesn't apply any more. What he did was just the action of a man who is clearly as thick as pig excrement. He should be thankful that it's only three games and that he's still (probably) going to go to Poland.

Seriously, its great news for England......With Rooney, we would have our hopes built up in the run up to the tournament by our dreadful media, which then ultimately, after 3 uninspired matches, the same media would turn on the team and with us, the public, having bugger all else to read about for about a month.
Now, without Rooney, the pressure is totally off.....From being hopeless no-hopers, with an expectant media on their backs, they are now just hopeless no-hopers.

You reckon?
I think the way they will play it is that a nicely rested, fired-up Rooney will be ready to step in to blast us past the big boys once the inconvenience of playing the group stage minnows has been taken care of by the other superstars from the best league in the world.

....Do you think even our gormless media will try and sell that one to an even more disbelieving and sceptical public?
Yes, all the football-illiterate twonks who, come competition time, infest your local Weatherspoons with their shiny, new England tops, will still take in some of the hype, but any self-respecting football fan knows that this particular tournament is a write off, with or without the suspended Judas.

The MO is always talk us up to get the hype and sales going before sticking the boot in when it all goes wrong, doubt they'll stray from that formula.

Have you ever sat through ITV's coverage of an England game? Or any coverage of an England game?
No matter how many times we fail, no matter how poor, no matter how repetitive, they somehow grossly overrate our side, try to fill the audience with hope and their reaction to the failure is just as epic as the failure itself. 'Disbelief', problem is, they're the only idiots believing.
