Getting carried away on false hope I think. So used to having it hammered home that McLeish is a good manager, it's an easy mistake to make.

By the same token, so is the thing about McClaren being a bad manager. Simply untrue.

It's a picture of Anfield.

I know how they got confused though. Liverpool and Man United fans are usually so up each other's butts that it's easy for them to make the mistake on assume their bf's place is their own.

And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

A section of the Chelsea support has acted like the spoiled chlldren of rich parents. Hopefully no decent manager worth his salt will take the job and they'll be left dragging someone like Steve Clarke back.

It doesn't help matters that the biggest spoilt child in the whole scenario is the guy who owns the club....

I really cant take Chelsea, or their supporters, very seriously......I mean LGJM, whose views I always enjoy reading on here and, most of the time, fully respect, came out with a classic a few weeks back, when he named Abramovich as one of his footballing heroes!!?...

Its this type of blind worship to the power of money, that has made football a tainted sport and turned many of its supporters into blinkered, greedy sorts who crave only success - Yes, winning is a great acheivement, but Abramovich's obsession with being number one in English and European football is an ugly spectacle and does nothing for Chelsea's reputation.

While his backing for the club is obviously crucial to Chelsea, his presence at the helm has increasingly led to them being a laughing stock, and I'm not quite sure that either he, or Chelsea's supporters, really want that?

Re: Football Chat Thread PART II : Fri Mar 01, 2013 10:05 am
There was an article by Manchester's favourite rent boy - Daniel Taylor - on The Guardian website yesterday that was pretty bang on. The line that got it was the way he described their defence of the Champions League.

It was awkward viewing from the outside, the club had just won the trophy it has craved for about ten years, they done it against all odds yet all you could feel was that Roman wanted rid of the coach. Much like when Mourinho was in charge, it didn't seem to matter what had happened in the past with RDM, the moment it went slightly wrong he was always going to get sacked. Last season, United never made it out of the group stages and nobody batted an eyelid. It was embarrassing that they couldn't get out of that group, but there was no knee jerking. For me, RDM could and should have been given the rest of the season to turn it around. Bringing in Rafa was a quite silly idea, partly because the fans don't like him, and partly because he doesn't shirk confrontation and will drag out the drama.

Abramovich should just the obvious thing and be the Chelsea manager himself as that job is certainly not one that is very secure. Maybe he'll find another Special One I don't know.

If only we could be stable like QPR, right?

Since Abramovich bought the club we've had 10 managers. In that time QPR have had 17 managers, although TBF two of them were joint managers.

Not sure what QPR have to do with it, but in that time they've been relatively poop. Chelsea have won numerous FA Cups and league cups. A few Premierships and the Champions League and STILL gone through 10 managers.
