Paddy Evra wrote:
The one time Rooney needed good advising and his people delivered big time. Showing massive respect to Sir Alex, whilst playing to the United fans by blaming Judas and the Glazers. At least his statement makes it more likely that he could play for United again before he is sold.

I agree with Merson that it is likely Rooney has been tapped up, although he knows that any number of the top / rich clubs will sign him in an instant.

We'll miss his work rate, his passion, his commitment, and last season's goals. He isn't as hard to replace as Ronaldo was, as without Valencia in the side, his goal threat was significantly reduced. Although, whereas when Ronaldo left, we got Valencia, who was able to assist Rooney to score 30+ goals, with Rooney I can't honestly see us replacing him with anyone. Now that we know Rooney told Gill before August, it backs up the claims by Craig f*cking Bellamy that we tried to sign him. If signings like Bellamy are what we can look forward to, we are truly f*cked.

Rooney at Madrid would make an even more awesome strike line up for them, and make them pretty unbeatable. I can understand Mourinho wanting him to stay at United for life, as he wants Fergie's job, but I'd rather he love off to Spain rather than be a c*nt like Tevez.

No doubt David Gill will come out and stress that there are millions of pounds to be spent on new players and that the Glazer's are super-duper owners, with Fergie following suit pretty soon after. The truth is, the thing that is worse about this situation, is we'll sell him for £20-£35million, Uncle Malc and sons will buy a few more mansions, and we'll be left to sign an unknown kid off the street in Glasgow. Ideally we'll get a decent swap deal with Madrid, but that won't be good business for Malc.

Rooney's had some brilliant years at United in one of our most successful on-field eras. It's a weird feeling that by the end of this season, the heroes of the 90s will have all left United, along with the heroes of the 00s. The next decade is going to be a long and painful one, especially if we have to wait until 2017 to get rid of the Glazers. I just hope that teams like Chelsea and Arsenal can keep competing to keep City away from glory for as long as possible, because we're just going to be the "almost theres".

The team that played tonight could well be our 'star' lineup next season with VDS, Neville, Scholes, Giggs and Rooney all departing, and if (with respect) it struggles to beat Bursaspor at home, we haven't got a chance.

Ian Holloway seems to be of the opinion that players are pieces of meat.

LOVE UNITED - HATE GLAZER

"DEBT IS THE ROAD TO RUIN" - David Gill, August 2004

Malcolm Glazer - Forever in your DEBT

Re: The Football Chat Thread : Thu Oct 21, 2010 7:48 pm
Well, unfortunately for Rooney, his options are becoming ever limited.

The Daily Telegraph wrote:
While the Reds and the Blues do battle over Wayne Rooney’s signature, the Rebels — better known as FC United of Manchester — declined to put in a bid yesterday.

“Forget his wages,” said Karl Marginson, the manager of the non-League side formed as a protest in the wake of the Glazers’ takeover at Old Trafford. “We couldn’t pay his hairdressing bills. And he doesn’t even have much hair.”

“The idea behind this club was to get away from top-level football, where the money men have taken over. Look at the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo: there was talk of having £80 million to spend, but it was never going to happen.

“When you look at these players earning £200,000 a week, and the way they behave — well, they have nothing in common with the man on the street.”

While Rooney seeks a new contract that would bring him nearly £1 million per month, FC United are trying to raise the £3.5 million they need to build a new stadium and free them from their groundshare arrangement with Bury.

Gill and his mates have told United fans to be patient, and that we will find put soon what is going to happen after all of today's meetings between Gill, Fergie and Rooney's representatives.

Meanwhile, Fergie has cancelled tomorrow's press conference.

When Utd fans were attacked in Italy by Roma fans you were lording it up on here saying how the mighty red army had been done by the ultras. Now you want Uefa to act because it's Liverpool fans? :?

This is the second to last nail in man united golden era coffin.

The final nail being when ferguson FINALLY decides to hang up his hair dryer.

When a club can no longer keep hold of their best players, and no longer has the financial muscle to replace them and compete with other top clubs, it rings massive alarm bells. The club is only going one way and it isn't up.

I suspect this whole saga will trigger a chain of events which sees man united enter a sustained trophyless period.

Ferguson will not go willingly.

The old scot is looking more haggard than ever. I suspect his health will deteriorate rapidly before he releases his deathly grip on the club. Possibly even only on his bed in hospital, will he finally be releived of command.

and then, manchester united will pass away.

It appears Mr Rooney has had a home visit from the re-mobilised Manchester Education Committee. Not sure if this will influence his decision.

But, as wrong as this sounds, I sorta feel sorry for United. I know myself how it feels to have owners screw the club out of any future. United are one of the best run clubs in the country, their scouting, facilities, marketing and the rest is as good as it gets, but some knob takes them over, piles a shed load of debt on them and that's the club crippled for the best part of a decade.

As much as I hate United, no club deserves that, regardless of what their fans, players or whatever say, they deserve to compete if the club is capable of competing. Would love the Glazers to get epically swindled.

Just been watching Citeh, as it was highlighted at the end; just how good is David Silva?

I said when he came, he'll be the best player in the league if Citeh build their team around him and he adds goals to his game. He plays like a bit of everything, the way he breaks through the middle reminds me of Kaka, his dribbling and movement reminds me of Iniesta, but I feel his ability to link play - particularly on the counter-attack - is almost unmatched. A fabulous player who I've wanted at Liverpool since his spell at Celta. If he starts scoring more, then there's no reason he can be to Citeh what Kaka was to Milan.
