I thought it was harsh but could understand the ref seeing it as a red.

I was more surprised that Nani was picked ahead of Rooney.

At first viewing I thought it was yellow at worst but after watching it from a few angles I can see why it might be a red. A high foot gets a yellow in Europe a lot of the time even if no contact is made. He's caught him pretty hard in the ribs/pelvis and even though it wasn't his intent he's endangered his opponent. As someone said before Ibrahimovic was sent off for something similar not long ago.

It might be somewhere between a yellow and a red card but it's not the worst decision ever made like some have been making out. It's just a bit contentious and has had a direct impact on the result, rightly or wrongly.

I found that pretty funny. I found it funnier that it was Roy Keane who was straight out there with the opinion against theirs. People talk about RAWK meltdown, but Twitter was class viewing last night. BTW, 100% Wire, I find it hilarious that you're moaning about Arbeloa rolling around after getting studded, yet you don't moan about Nani rolling around trying to blag the challenge as some kind of 50/50. That was by far the funniest part of the night, but of course, it was the nasty La Liga player doing all the acting, right?

Although it's always funny to see United exit a tournament in such circumstances rather than go through, the decision was terrible. You can all justify it by bringing out some comparison with another silly decision, but it's time football went through a manly revolution and went back to having a physical element and a dose of common sense. These kind of decisions are just the referee being determined to have his name spoken about by being deliberately controversial. You could see from all the posing he did after it and how much he loved the attention being on him that he's not the kind of ref to just stay in the background and let the game flow.

Rio should have got a yellow card at the end for what he did in front of the referee. I bet United fans aren't happy with Keane after what he said regardingthe sending off. I thought Keane was going to shin Southgate as well ! Nice to see Fergie lose his cool as well as that was funny to see.

Hope the Man Utd players were 'Justice for Nani' t-shirts in their warm up on Sunday, demand an apology from UEFA and ask for the referee to retire.
