But does allowing Man City to buy domination benefit anyone bar City fans?

Today, whilst magnificent if you are a City fan, had more than a whiff of inevitability about it. City, given the quality they have, could run that score up most weeks.

Enjoyed watching it happen mind, United's back line look utterly fragile at the moment.

City for the Premier League looks a safe bet to me. They'll completely outclass and overwhelm most sides. In a couple of years they could give Barcelona a test.

Not convinced it's a good thing though if football is dominated by an even smaller number of sides. No one can compete with City and it's got nothing to do with sport.

Chris Foy is completely and utterly out of his depth. He's sent off 2 Chelsea players so far, about 6 on a booking as well so it'll likely be more by full time. He's not giving Chelsea a thing. A couple of stonewall penalty shouts for Chelsea completely ignored, including a rather farcical one where Luiz is grabbed around the waist so he can't flick a corner on and dumped on the floor.

Being bitter is an aspect of personality not who you support. I'm guessing when Newcastle were paying over the odds for Asprilla, Shearer, Smith and the like you were outside St James protesting about how Newcastle were oppressing those clubs who didn't have as much finance behind them. Swings and roundabouts bud that's all.

Just because it didn't work when Newcastle tryed to buy the title, don't be all bitter because things are going swimmingly for city.

Today was pretty good for everyone except united fans. Have you not seen the amount of premier league titles they've won comapred to not won?

I'ts about time we had some new upstarts ''putting THEM in THEIR place''. Arsenal and chslea have had a few little moments and now city and sticking it to em.

Good job I say.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Anyone got the dialing code for Manchester? :D

United were lucky that Evans got sent off so they have an excuse. They were well on their way to getting beat anyway. Richards, Milner, Silva exceptional.

If Evans would have been on, it still would have finished 3-1 to City, at least. The dearth of a controlling/creative midfielder has come to roost for Utd.

the ref got the sendings off & the bookings right

Luiz' penalty shout was 50/50 IMO and he did milk it a bit so it would not have ben surprising to see him get a second yellow card for simulation

as for United -      that's SIX

City's pending is pretty much unprecedented. Look at who they have on loan/kicking their heels in the ether:

Adebayor
Santa Cruz
Bridge

In excess of £50 million, effectively written off. As I said; unprecedented. The only way Utd will be able to compete with City in tthe long term will to take the Qatari Riyal.

As I keep saying, until salary caps/transfer caps are brought in, the sport will never ever be competitive.

Time to start taking some tips from our porky friends over the Atlantic.

And how is that different to a £30mil+ player like Berbatov playing in the reserves every week?
