Thing is, when Carragher done that tackle, pretty much everybody agreed he should have seen red, only the ref missed it. Likewise with Gerrard. I can't speak about the Suarez challenge as it was for Ajax years back. When Scholes does a tackle like that, people laugh it off. Just like they laughed his handball off, or the attempted swing at Alonso.

But that's my point, and I appreciate my red tinted specs are a different shade to yours, but I genuinely think there is a distinction between what Scholes does to those sorts of tackles, he clumsy but not stupid, he knows what he's doing, and I appreciate he gets away with it a bit with a 'guffaw' from the commentators but they aren't leg breakers, the are niggly, clumsy, stupid at times, but who has he ever caused serious injury to let alone broken a leg.

My point is; whenever Suarez does anything remotely 'niggly' or over 'the line', his character is questioned, he's a disgrace, a scumbag, a cheat and held in the same regard as the likes of Saville and Glitter.
Let's be honest, the only really 'bad' things he's done are the bite, Evragate and now this punch (I've only seen a gif, like). The bite he copped a ban for which is more than what Defoe got, Evragate he copped a ban for and that still divides opinion. The latest one is under investigation, I've not seen it properly so can't comment.
The dives, the tackles, the hair pull, the handballs, they all mean absolutely nothing and just point to me at a player going over the edge on a competitive level. I don't think they're morally wrong, I think most footballers would do the same/similar, but they'll never get the outrageous reaction that Suarez gets, something Scholes never gets despite having done things that warrant a similar reaction. People dig so deep to have a go at Suarez they even mention things from when he was going through puberty in a clearly deprived area on the other side of the globe.
I don't think he's perfect, just nowhere near as bad as the idiots make out. I don't think I've ever seen another player where people just relentlessly hate his every move. The premier league has become Suarez watch on the weekends, he's been one of the best players in the league this season yet the only people talking about it are Liverpool fans. Opposition fans watch his every move yet they hate him so much most can't even acknowledge a genuine special talent because they're so obsessed with everything else.

Scholes gets away with it because his challenges are so high he usually catches the thigh rather than the shin. In a wierd sort of way his tackles are safer because they are so bad!

I don't know whether Suarez is a nice guy off the field or not. I could GAS whether he's a nice guy or not. But the reason I said he seemed like he was such a nice guy off the pitch was because it has been part of the LFC media spin campaign to defend him. It's a line that you, and others, have used on here.
Scholes has always put in ridiculous tackles and often got away with them. But that's part of the mass MUFC suck off that so many people in England indulge in - including you.
But the big difference between Scholes and Suarez is that Suarez has amassed a similar record to Scholes in a couple of seasons, Scholes has committed his over his 20 year career.
Added to that has been the spin campaigns that LFC have been involved in with Suarez that he's straight away gone and peed all over. "Poor Luis doesn't get the penalties because of his rep", says Brenton in the pre match press conference. Next match Suarez throws himself to the deck like a moron and writhes around like a fish out of water trying to get a pen. The stupid T shirts, the "it's a term of endearment in Uruguay to call them lovely" BS. Scholes has pretty much STFU and served his bans, accepted the tickings off when he should have got reds, and just got on with it
Along with the bad things you list, Suarez also managed to head butt a ref when he was 15. But I guess that's too young to count for you? For everyone else it shows he's got something wrong in his head and he's lucky he's a football player because otherwise the fool would be in jail or dead.
His punch this week wasn't a massive swinger. It would have done little damage and was only used to lose his marker at a corner. But the fact he's willing to do it, given his record and the fact he's going to get caught out again, shows what an utter idiot he is.
I accept he's a brilliant player. I admire his skill. Despite his clear flaws, I'd swap him for Torres + 20m in a heartbeat. But he's a grade A tvvat. But everyone at LFC wants to believe he's just misunderstood. Eff that S.
Wigan look set to do it again. Why don't they play like this at the start of the season so they don't have to be in this position to start with?
A lot of teams at the bottom will be feeling very worried. Fulham down are all looking over their shoulders. Villa and Sunderland in particular will be panicking about now.
Lionel Messi scored in Barca's 2-2 draw with Celta Vigo today. He has now scored in 19 consecutive league games, scoring at least once against every other side in the league in consecutive games.
Has anyone ever done that in the top division in England I wonder?

At a guess Dixie Dean?
