Some Liverpool fans might think he's the messiah, but not me. I think he was a good manager who lost his way abit and got too involved in boardroom politics. I never understood why he was constantly slagged off by everyone that didn't support Liverpool. Similarly, I found all the 'Hodgson-love' bemusing. I think I understand it now. I think its because one was considered a threat, whereas the other was considered 'safe'.

I pointed out a while back, that I find it quite bemusing that any criticism of Liverpool, is instantly met with Kopites accusing of you of being obsessed??

I think what most sensible people are simply pointing out, is that Liverpool's form is no better or no worse than under Hodgson.....Yes, King Kenny has gained a win against a terrible Chelsea side, but, similarly, so did Hodgson.

Apart from that, what else has Kenny done to make things so much better?....A few wins against sides who they really were expected to beat, and probably would have beat under Hodgson, and poor results against sides they should be getting results from, again, similar to what Hodgson was acheiving, but for some reason, Hodgson was hounded out of the job for it, whilst, bizarrely, Dalglish is set to be rewarded with a 2 year contract for.....

Personally, I hope Dalglish stays, simply because with him in charge, Liverpool will go nowhere fast......Once the novelty, honeymoon period has worn off, and it is already by the evidence of today's awful show, the lack of tactical nous will quickly begin to show.

You know very little, IMO. You remind me of the fans that used to say 'we hope Benitez stays because once you get a good manager, you might actually win something'.

The difference between Dalglish and Hodgson is massive. First thing's first: Hodgson was appointed by Purslow - over Dalglish - and was never a choice of the 'fans', I know fans shouldn't decide anything at a football club, but you need to get somebody in to rejuvenate a set of deflated supporters. Hodgson was never the man, he made it worse, he cast players out (Agger), he selectively picked at players in the press and it was obviously evident the mood in the camp wasn't good. That's not the same with Dalglish, he's much more positive, the fans are rejuvenated, the players are more positive and the results under Dalglish were, initially at least, better than under Roy, we've struggled since the international break, losing your best player doesn't help, whilst we've not been able to integrate Suarez or Carroll as much as we'd like, for varying reasons.

Today was a poor result, a poor performance and generally a bad day at the office, but I believe Dalglish can pick things up, whereas under Roy, he was only making things worse. Deem him tactically inept, deem him whatever you want, but a few weeks ago he outdone Ancelotti tactically, one of Europe's finest, apparently, but now we have a bad run of games, he's suddenly out of it and clueless.

I'm not one of these blind Dalglish followers either who believe he should be getting a 6 year contract or whatever it is some audaciously claim, but I believe things under Dalglish have improved, some of those things you won't see in the results, but I do believe improvement is there. I think you're allowing your bias (you probably get half of your guff off bluenose forums) to cloud your view immensely, as your criticism is very typical of the 'outsider looking in'. I never heard you scathing criticism after the Wolves or Chelsea game, yet the first 'bad' loss and you're straight in there with the stereotypes, with the assumed predictions and the 'you wait 'til I'm right' stuff, it's boring, really.

Benitez a threat? I'm assuming you're a massive wum. I was gutted when he left.

For a while, yes. Won the CL, the FA Cup, finished 2nd in the league and gave your men a massive hammering on their own patch. Not to mention a few good runs in Europe. I'd consider that a threat. Granted, he lost his way at the end.

Hodgson got knocked out of the League Cup by Northampton, and took Liverpool to the bottom half of the league.

One got slagged off something rotten, the other is treated like some sort of martyr. Coincidence? I think not.

WUM? That's a bit rich...

Get real.....'Outdone Ancelotti'??......That particular game was one of the worst so-called top level matches I've seen in a long time, contested between 2 hopelessly out-of-form sides, and to claim some sort of tactical genius won it for you is simply bizarre....In reality, it was a shocklng goalkeeping error which won it and definitely not Dalglish's tactical prowess.

I have no doubt that Dalglish has improved morale among the players massively, but to think a bit of morale boosting will make a huge difference in the long term is simply naive....Seriously, you are no better tactically under Dalglish than you were with Hodgson, you simply don't have idiots booing and jeering the manager's decisions when things go inevitably wrong, which is bound to happen with the mediocre squad you currently have.

Didn't Rafa the gaffer get knocked out by Barnsley at Anfield in the more important FA Cup? I also seem to remember Havant & Waterlooville giving Liverpool the scare of their lives. Going ahead twice and being level at half time.

Was hiring Woy a mistake? Probably. But lets be honest he took over a sinking ship. In my opinion he should have got longer but I can fully understand why Liverpool got rid, especially after a change of ownership.

The goalkeeping error would have been redundant had Maxi not missed from 3 yards out. ATEOTD Liverpool were better than Chelsea, and with the resources Chelsea have, it's fair to say that Dalglish 'outdid' Ancelotti.

There's more to it than morale boosting. Before today, they'd conceded one goal in seven games. Is it a coincidence that the formation changed to 3-5-2? To me that suggests more than a boost to their morale.

But you see, it is always 'errors' that win games, errors happen every game and are often the reason why a goal is scored. Did Cech's error stop Chelsea from scoring goals? Did Liverpool's poor form really stop Torres, Drogba, Anelka and Lampard from playing awfully? If you understood the remotest thing about tactics, you would have seen Liverpool's tactics is what won them the game against Chelsea. Three at the back was a clever move, call luck for the goal and poor form on Chelsea's part, they are still a vastly superior side to us, yet we went there and got the result by nullifying their talents and we nicked something on the break.

As for our tactics under Dalglish compared to Roy, again, you can't be serious, you simply can't. Under Roy we defended very very deep, our full backs rarely broke forward and the distance between midfield and forwards was huge. Our attacks started from long punts at the back, we had Torres being played in a 4-4-2, a system he has shown throughout his career he struggles with, and we had Meireles playing on the right wing. Since the international break, we've struggled under Kenny, but his tactics were obviously better beforehand. We passed the ball much better, Meireles was moved centrally with a 'free' role, Torres was being supported in vast numbers and the defence were passing the ball for once. As I said before, we haven't been able to get Carroll on the field yet, whilst Suarez hasn't been able to get the run of games he needs because of various reasons.

I'm not claiming Kenny is a genius, but the tactics have vastly improved under him when compared to Hodgson. Hodgson simply didn't fit, he was forcing a formation and a brand of football on the team that made very little sense, all faith was lost and he was eventually sacked. Kenny has come in and tried to start playing to our strengths, but, the international break, injuries to Gerrard and the absence of £58m of strike force has clearly affected the team. Reasons I feel are a fair enough defence for the recent results.
