What he's saying and I agree with is that Torres was a one season wonder. Let's just leave it at that. He had a great season once. What's he done since? Seriously, what has he done since? Got a big chunky signing on fee from Chelsea. I'd put four or five Premier League strikers ahead of him now.
He was far from a one season wonder. Barring his last season for Liverpool, he performed at an exceptionally high level when he was able to get close to match fit. His goalscoring records at Liverpool are/were outstanding, his last season seems to mar what was an excellent Liverpool career. However, during his last season he was injured, but the problems were more than injury; coaching staff, team mates and his own attitude combined to ruin his final half season with us, but he'd still shown enough to establish himself as a top 3 striker worldwide.
He could still get back there, looking at him for Chelsea, he still looks to have the pace and the movement, it's just a matter of him establishing his touch. His first touch was probably his most inconsistent aspect, if he could have found his touch more consistently he wouldn't have looked so weak for Spain when he played for them. There were times where his touch made him unplayable (just look at some of the goals he'd scored in games), but there were many games where people felt Torres was 'schooled' or 'in X's back pocket', when, in reality, he just suffered from inconsistency in a vital part of his game.
One of the lads (Chelsea fan) said Chelsea are looking at Edinson Cavani? Frightening if true. I don't think he'd perform as well in England as he does in Italy, or he would in Spain, but he'd still be good over here. If you get a minute, try and find a video of the assist he got for Lavezzi's goal t'other day, immense.
