Granted, I'll hold my hands up and say I thought Pardew was an awful appointment, the length of contract was staggering etc, but he's turned out to be a tremendous appointment.
From there, I think all credit must go to Pardew not Ashley. He wasn't given the Carroll money to reinvest, yet somehow he's put together this side with a fair bit of nous in the transfer market, Ba looks a steal, Cabeye for Nolan in effect. He's getting the best out of existing players like Taylor, Collocini, Jonas etc.
He's had to sell Carroll, Nolan, Enrique - You could argue their 3 best players, has had little money and they sit 3rd, he looks a miracle worker.
