No but he was in the right place. He didn't have to do much but it was stupid from Huth, he shoved him right in the view of Mike Dean. If Stoke's was a pen then that definately was.

I thought Newcastle played very well last night, one of their first big tests this season and they handled Stoke very well.

I'd wait a few years before proclaiming Pardew as some sort of managerial genius.....Didn't he have a similar miraculous season with West Ham, getting a side to over-acheive their way to a credible league position and a Cup final, before it went as quickly belly up the following year?

He's doing well at the moment, and it helps that there is very little expectation on his shoulders from the fans....Any pressure is directed towards Ashley.

A top half finish should be almost certain now, but I'd be surprised if they are still in European contention come spring, unless Ashley suddenly goes mad with the chequebook.

For Sharp to play tonight showed great courage. When he scored he lifted his shirt up and showed a T Shirt saying "That's for you son", and fortunately the ref showed sense in not booking him for this.

Be interesting to see what the F.A does with John Terry. Taking into account Rio Ferdinand plays alongside him. Capello shouldn't reinstated him in the first place. Horrible individual.

More than great courage I would say. The referee would not have dared book Sharp but I would think the referee would have been told what might happen should he score a goal and wouldf have no problem at all with it.
