Rooney was outstanding for United in midfield I thought. Combative, agile, creative. He was a real threat and could easily be the best midfielder in the country if he moved there permanently. His range of passing in particular was a jaw dropper. Not the best of opposition, but he's got all the attributes.
Just what they would do up front without him though is another matter. Berbatov is terrible, Owen injured and Hernandez is a pale shaddow of the player is with Rooney alongside him.
Why they didn't buy a midfielder in the summer is beyond me. I know they went for Sneijder, but when it became obvious he wasn't available, they should have gone elsewhere. Could cost them the title.
