Fergie agrees with me.

"We played very well and I thought it was a great performance by us, we didn't deserve that and that's three years in a row that referees' decisions have changed the game."

Great minds.

1. Fletcher penalised for foul when it wasn't. Chelsea score from free-kick
2. Drogba a mile offside
3. Luiz not getting sent off and a dubious penalty.

Thought ref's we're scared of us?

It is clear that you believe you are smarter than everyone else but it would help if you actually had a clue what you were talking about.

I would have thought that Mourinho's number one bum boy would appreciate the value of the trophy in question as it was his first European honour and put him immediately on the radar of Europes big clubs, and also Chelsea.

At least Newcastle have won a European trophy that still exists unlike your lot who won the pot that was so pointless that it was dumped in the mid nineties.

Not totally sure about this because I was watching a bitty feed, but right before Rooney scored I thought he threw himself down trying to get a pen. He should have been booked for that and play stopped. Thought that our defending for Rooney's shot was beyond ridiculous.

He did stumble over but I don't think he was looking for a pen.

Re: Football Chat Thread : Wed Mar 02, 2011 10:31 am
I am glad United got very little from the ref last night, especially Rooney. Not beneficial for me, as I would rather have seen Chelsea lose. More concerned about City's fight for 4th than United's title charge. Let's face it, they will win the league. Arsenal are more likley to finish 3rd than first.

The way in which Rooney celebrated his goal simply oozed arrogance and a belief that he thinks he is untouchable (or at least it was in my opinon). To then see him get kicked around the pitch during the second half gave me great pleasure.

Not sure what to make of Chelsea. They do look suspect at the back. Luiz looks to have the tools to be a top defender but he plays 'on the edge'. He looks like he has red cards and penalties in his game. Chelsea played with a bit more pace in the second-half but they were hardly sparkling with creativity - maybe that's because they didn't need to, I don't know.

I thought United looked good first half but in the second-half the midfield melted away and Smalling was reverting to type. Vidic was battling away like a warrior while Smalling was often out of position and often lost concentration. As a result, United's defensive line started to look a bit ragged. Will be interesting to see how Smalling does at the weekend without Vidic carrying him.

Regardless of the result, it was a good game.

Smalling has been great this season and has been the past few games especially. I think your views are blinded by your dislike of United. I remember you saying he was awful and would never make a top defender. This post is a porr attempt to have a dig at a good, young player who has been playing well.Other than that I think your analysis of the game is spot on.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

The very same poster who said Modric wouldn't make it in England, due to him being too small. Pinch of salt, and all that.

The Cup Winners Cup was a massively inferior competition compared to the CL/European Cup. But it was still a thousand times more important than the Intertoto.

We won a couple of pointless, stupid competitions. The Full Members Cup and Zenith Data Systems Cup if I remember rightly. Even though we were massively starved of success I don't think many Chelsea fans considered those trophies to be valid, They were just a glimpse of success that we wished we were getting for real.

I have respect for NUFC.

But I don't have respect for Roofs and his failed gloryhunting stupidity. I have never, ever claimed that our success has been anything other than bought because of Abramovich's investment. I know there's pretty much zero chance we'd have won the league or competed as we have in the CL without RA. But to claim that our trophies have zero value, which Roofs does continually, is so stupid as to deserve the derision I give him.

While the money RA spent is a massive part of Chelsea's trophy haul, the simple fact is without the luck factor in acquiring Mourinho, we could have spent all that money and only had a fraction of the success we've had. As I hope Manchester City will prove, it is possible to spend a billion quid and still end up trophyless.

Then there's the stupidity with Roofs devaluing Chelsea's success because Roman supposedly just bought the trophies, but absolutely zero acknowledgement from Roofs that the success of Man U and Liverpool has also been helped by being owned by a pools billionaire and the richest, most powerful club in the land at a time when Sky's money/CL money became so important. To only write off Chelsea's and Citeh's achievement but to ignore the advantages that those clubs have received is ridiculous IMO.

Even Arsenal have a massively beneficial setup over most clubs. They act like they are Wimbledon playing in the Premier League, but they're the second/third most powerful club in the country. They have been owned by very rich owners throughout their history and gained success through that. Their strategy of spending big on potential is still too expensive for most clubs.

To just write off any success that Chelsea or Citeh achieve is just stupid, and I'll treat it as such.

For a gloryhunting fake geordie to be doing it, I'm going to treat him in the manner he deserves.

And if you don't like it, go **** yourself.

Fletcher fouled Ashley Cole. If it had been the other way round Fergie would have been flapping his arms and acting like he'd filled his nappy, like he did last night. It's only the bull5hit United arrogance which continually insists that Fletcher didn't foul when he blatantly did.

Drogba wasn't offside. But he was only being played onside because Neville (?) had been thrown to the ground and was playing him on. The goal should have been chalked off for the foul on Neville, unlike Torres's shot last night where it was 6 of one...

Luiz could have gone, but the United player should've been booked in the run up to the Malouda chance early in the game. Some of these decisions go your way, some don't. Rooney gets away with a red card at the weekend and refs decisions should be respected. Luiz gets away with a second yellow a few days later and Fergie jumps up and down over it and throws his soiled nappy at the ref over it.

But it's the typical United bull5hit. Blame the ref and make that the focus, rather than accepting you were awful in the second half and deserved to lose.
