He'll get 8 matches maybe ? He certainly can't deny what he did to the Chelsea player as he apologised to him on the phone.
He can't deny it because it's clear from about 5 different angles. He was trying to practice snogging on Ivanovic's arm or he was biting him.
TBH it's difficult to imagine what punishment they're going to come out with. The 7 match ban he got in Holland is a reference. That was worse because he drew blood, but this is his second offence so clearly the 7 matches he missed didn't work.
IMO he was trying to goad Ivanovic into smacking him so he could fall down, get a pen and get Ivanovic sent off. You can tell with the way he was appealing and then limping around afterwards. Now, while that is a defence in that he wasn't biting with violent intent, it's not much of a defence to the football authorities to be saying the reason you bit someone was to cheat the ref into getting a pen.
Add on his appalling record of things he has been done for, the bad things he's got away with, the lack of repentance over Evra, his changing excuses over Evra with every interview, it could be a difficult hearing for him.
Then consider that other head case Barton. He got 12 matches for pretending to be a hard case. And that was 12 matches plus the red card he got which could (should) have sent his side down. Barton may have a bit of solidarity with Suarez because they are both scouse head cases, but if Suarez gets less than Barton I think he has the right to ask why.
Robby has said it on here, that if you take the "spark" out of him then he's half the player. Football doesn't have to accept that. If he can't play the game without biting someone then he shouldn't be playing the game. If Suarez without the spark results in another Downing, then Liverpool should have another Downing.
What do I think he should get? I think he should get 8 matches. But if he is caught biting, or attempting to bite, another player in the next 4 years then I think he should get an automatic 1 year ban. I don't know if the rules can allow this, but I think if he gets a red card for straight violent conduct in the future he doesn't pick up a 3 match ban, it starts at 8 with the possibility to be increased.
I've got a feeling the FA are going to go ultra "sensitive" and go along with the excuse that he's got anger management issues. No doubt Tony Adams will be wheeled in to pick up a new client. I don't care if that happens, but it's got to be as well as a strong ban, not instead of it.
