That's the first time I've seen anyone championing "on report" as a concept. As Wilson says though, the contrast between the bans for Ashton and Dowson does expose the system to ridicule.
The 'on report' option is a good one but it should be a last resort. Too many decisions seem to automatically be put on report and it's taking responsibility away from our referees. Many of the union laws and disciplinary rules need looking at but the problem is that there are just so many of them.
was watching an nfl doco. on one of their teams and they used the term bomb to describe those long high passes from quaterback to running back and i think gibson took that idea, realized you cant throw the ball forward in RL and adapted it to a "bomb" kick we have

Hence the wink. I haven't played union to any serious level but I've watched plenty over the years. Quite often in a game I'm waiting for the referee to tell me which law has been broken as it's impossible to tell from the sideline or armchair. I think it's got worse over the years as when, as a young lad, I watched Orrell, I don't remember being as confused so often as I am in some games now.
Agreed, it gets ridiculous sometimes. I go down and watch Hull RUFC sometimes and being on the sidelines is even worse, since you can't actually hear the explanation unless he's shouting.

I live in Barnet, there has been a lot of opposition to this, i can see lots of problems if it goes through.
