I'm not saying it should be let go. I'm saying I don't see why they'd *cheat* by doing that. It doesn't make any sense that they would plan to cheat to do that when it could have worked anyway if the player had just tapped the ball into play.
Planning to cheat would mean you're giving the ref and lino an easy chance to wipe the goal, if you get one. They'd be giving Wigan the chance to whine to the ref and lino about it. Why do that when there's no recourse if he plays the ball into play properly?
IMO it was a planned move for him to tap it into play and catch Wigan. He screwed up by not doing it, but the player who took the corner probably didn't realise he'd not done his part. No cheating involved.
