For me the FA got it right. Any stamp should be a red card and a ban regardless of where the stamp was aimed at. He knew what he was doing, he has not virtually admitted it with his statement overnight by saying a person can only take so much before they will react.
From the BBC report that comment was about the celebration, not the stamp.
He went to stamp on RVP and has been punished for it. I don't see how anyone can defend it.
IMO if someone deliberately stamped on someone's face then they should be looking at a minimum of a 10 match ban. This wasn't a deliberate stamp on the face, it was a slight reaction to a bad challenge from RVP which Adebayor slightly reacted to.
There was far more intent from Wayne Rooney when he won that ridiculous penalty for England.
From the FA's perspective I don't think there was that much they can do. Arsenal have bleated so much about this, Adebayor is already such a hate figure and there's so much media glare about this that they did the only thing they could do.
Now if you want to talk about the celebration that's different, whilst what he did was out of order by running the length of the field, he was actually yellow carded for it so that should be the end of it. It's moe the reaction of the Arsenal fans at the time that have made that particular situation worse.
TBH the FA should accept he's already been punished for the celebration, make a statement to that effect and then rip up that utterly moronic rule.
I think Adebayor should get done for the celebration beyond the yellow card. But according to the FA's rules it should be the end of it. But sadly the FA seem to pick and choose when they apply their own rules.
Over this whole affair I hate Arsenal even more. They got stuffed on the pitch. They tried to dish it out but came off second best. So then then whine like little girls after the game and run to the FA about being picked on. I really hope those hypocritical ****ers don't qualify for the CL this year.
