Live Wired,I don't really know why you're crabbing Frankel so much. I can see the argument that horses are probably best judged at the end of their careers, but Frankel is unbeaten thus far, and couldn't really have done any more. He has won G1s at 7 and 8f (which is a very nebulous distinction when comparing 2yos to 3yos, but one you're keen to make, apparently). He has beaten Nathaniel (subsequent King George winner), Treasure Beach (subsequent Irish Derby winner), Roderic O'Connor (subsequent Irish 2000G winner), Dream Ahead (Middle Park and subsequently July Cup winner) and multiple Group 1 winner Canford Cliffs, all fair and square.
Your description of Hawk Wing and Zafonic as 'awesome' horses I took to be based on the one awesome (as in breathtakingly impressive) performance each produced in their careers (Zafonic's Guineas, and Hawk Wing's Lockinge). Frankel's Guineas was as good as either of those, regardless of your view on his SJP or Sussex. And his Royal Lodge was pretty stunning too. If you're saying that Hawk Wing in particular was a truly awesome horse based on his career, then fine, it's a free country, but what the hell does that make Rock of Gibraltar and High Chapparal, both of whom beat him and weren't too shabby themselves - maybe they were more 'awesome', in truth
If they do step Frankel up next year, it will be Lockinge, then some of Prince of Wales, Eclipse, International, Irish Champion and Champion. Possibly followed by Breeders' Cup Classic. Would 7 Group 1s in a season shut you up?
Of course, if it doesn't stay, it will be Lockinge, PoW (fail), Sussex, Jacques Le Marois, QEII and Breeders Cup Mile. Probably
Anyway, El Gran Senor would have beaten the lot of 'em.
