Backed the Mullins horse in the bumper at Sligo too, hells fire. One of those oh-so-near nights on the flat.

Nothing looks particularly stand-out at first look for Saturday so done Furner's Green (11/10) at Tipperary tomorrow in the listed 7f race. Has C&D form and should be hard to beat, Joseph rode him that day too at at least he knows the horse. Has lots of flashy entries so will be expected to build on his debut win. The Harrington horse should give him most to do, as he also could be fairly useful.

The Lady Herries horse should win the 1450 at Worcester, as long as the ground stays fast. Looks a decent recruit to the summer jumping game. May back that one too if I get in from work early enough and conditions are right.

I've gone for small stakes on Lough Derg Way in that @ 7's.

The favourite is a nice horse but it's giving away 14lb + to some unexposed horses and 14lb to LDW. It looks a handy horse, who beat Jamsie Hall easily in a ptp which went close to winning in Ireland off 109 - so about 120 over here - so with such a difference in weights and if LDW can reproduce such a performance he must go close.

6:55 New Wrotham Heath - V v nice colt up there with the best at Cecil's may just need the run but is very smart and worth a go. !

Rough Rock 12/1 8.30 Newmarket.

Horse has plenty stamina for this difficult 6f. Need the favourite to get bumped or have an off day.

I certainly expect a podium finish.

Got in at about five to three, missed the chance to back Geneva Geyser in the 1450 - drifted to 5/2 and won easily. Bugger.


Pleased I backed Furner's Green last night at 11/10, now its odds on everywhere (4/6-8/13) as Jessica Harrington's Dragon Pulse doesn't run.
Suppose I'll get stung with a fat R4 now though.

Will be interesting to see if Sole Power can win this at Tipperary en-route to running in the Nunthorpe in a few weeks, has plenty in hand and may just have the class to see him through despite seeming better in bigger fields.

Miles away, Inxile won well. Wouldn't rush to back Sole Power for the Nunthorpe, never particularly got going in this. Even taking into account the small field, he didn't show much when asked.

Gone for a slight walk in the market, out to 4s on Betfair, the Meehan horse is being heavily supported. His often need a run, so could be interesting.


Battle Of Saratoga looks open to improvement and, after watching his debut, he seemed to learn quite a bit that day and should win here. JOB is 1lb overweight so a bit nervous now.

Winner looked decent there.
East Meets West had no luck and would've won in another 50 yards.
Why didn't the nice person on ATR tell us he had heard they think quite a lot of it BEFORE the race, instead of when the race had finished. Could've had it for a place on Betfair.

Newmarket 2.40 Reem 12/1 EW

This looks like it has no room in the handicap but found myself having a punt on it anyway, won a Listed race in Meydan easily over 10f this is a 7f race but I think its other runs show its got the speed for this, it won its first race at Meydan over 7f beating De Kock's other more fancied runner who then put it in its place in a Listed race over a mile but Reem hit the front over 2f out and stayed for 2nd, its best run was behind De Kock's very good River Jetez (5th in Falmouth Stakes) that was over 9f in a Group 2 and again it hit the front 2f out before staying on for 2nd


A Memory style bet as this might be gone at the game....

Haydock 3.20 - Jacqueline Quest 12/1 EW

This looks a pretty weak Listed race and if Jac has anywhere near some the talent that saw it lose the last year's 1,000 Guineas and come 3rd in Coronation Stakes it would take this.

That said it was woeful on first run this season and the refused to race last time out and has been shipped out of Ceil's yard but horses are funny animals.

"We can't find out what the problem has been, but they say a change of environment can help horses so I sent Jacqueline Quest to Ian's and after just three days she was a completely different horse, so I've decided to leave her there.

"I'd been thinking of retiring her and sending her to stud, but she seems back to her old self and I would like to run her again. If everything goes well, I could then bring her back into racing. She has passed a stalls test since Ascot, so that wouldn't be a problem.
