Any opinions on the Rose Of Lancaster, or Sweet Solera mate?

Has paid for me in the past couple of years to follow the Godolphin horses in the latter, but this looks a bit more competitive than the race White Moonstone won last year.

Going through a rather terrible run of seconditis of late - had 10 win bets of ranging stakes since last Sunday, most fairly small, had 8 second places and two winners - unfortunately didn't play any E/W.

Simon de Montfort @ 5/1 Rose Of Lancaster.

Absolute massive price for this beast, I was expecting about 2s.

Formally trained by Fabre and as a 3yo was entered up in all the big European middle distance group 1s. Injury curtailed that plan after winning his 1st 2 races of the season, then joined Godolphin. 4yo campaign started brightly in Meydan, then failed there next time under Ajmed " rabbit caught in headlights" Ajtebi. Now re-united with Barzalona.

Has the look of a high class horse, where he can run 2 big races, then needs a break of 5 weeks +. His other defeat came on the back of 2 relatively quick runs. Interesting to note, on his last run ( finished last) stable jockeys Dettori and Barzalona finished 1st or 2nd. Has raced 3 times ( including debut) after an exaggerated break, and won all 3 times. Distance and ground also in his favour.

His entries say that he is being aimed at the International in 11 days time. His racing career results indicate 2 quick runs are need then a break, quite possibly with a view to the Arc which is 6 weeks later.

Discourse for the Solera. 2/1 (best price guaranteed)

Frankie rode the other Godolphin horse on its debut and jumps ship today. The form stacks up and looks a filly to keep on the right side of, won't be easy as Mark Prescott's horses are in terrific form so Kinecta must have a big chance.

Went for Simon De Montfort at 5s (best price guaranteed). Godolphin need a new middle-distance flag-bearer, and he was at one point thought of as a Derby horse. 'quickened brilliantly' on his last start in France (a g3) so could be an interesting runner.

What a stinker from Simon De Montfort, pulled all the way then stumbled and chucked Barzalona off!

One good, one bad for Godolphin.

Yet again, Cheers Frankie :D Got my stakes right for once, had 3x as much on Discourse compared to SDM so not a bad day at all.

Cracking days racing at the Curragh tomorrow.

Banimpire should take all the beating, although all this racing will surely take its toll at some point.

Frederick Engels should run a massive race with Murtagh on board, although you can't rule much out. Gatepost was very unlucky at Royal Ascot and could run better than his price suggests. Lilbourne Lad should run a decent race but can't see him winning, while Coolmore will of had a few options for this one so shows that Power is expected to be in the mix.

For the fillies race, Maybe doesn't seem to have as much competiton. JOB eased her last time so her winning distance doesn't do the performance justice. Yellow Rosebud is dangerously unexposed, while Remember Alexander is going the right way. Another race I wouldn't get too involved in.

Deacon Blues makes the trip over for the group 3 sprint and carries top weight. British sprinters at group level aren't generally the most reliable (glorified handicappers) except the odd few so may pay to take him on at odds on. Hitchens ran a massive race in the July Cup, likes the course and is an e/w bet to nothing.

Dream Ahead is obviously group 1 level (unlike the aforementioned glorified handicappers mentioned) and has a massive chance in the Maurice de Gheest. Is up against some good horses and wouldn't be rushing to back him at 5/4 - most likely winner, but if he gets boxed in again then the cards might not fall so favourably as last time when he was switched and found a gap. Zoffany has a nice finishing burst so he could be an e/w bet to nothing at general 6s.

Reckon Simon de Montfort is worth another chance after his mis-hap. Was obviously too fresh in himself, and Barzalona's disappointment was plain to see. Hopefully a crack at the International is still on the cards, where he should be a decent price against the likely hotpot- Await The Dawn.

Brad Fitler "If the ref's decision decides your game. You haven't done enough prior."

Referees are like women, they make snap decisions and never reverse them.

Littlerich wrote Widnes will be glad to get away from Leigh. They've been regularly pumped, roasted and left in the alley-way by the lobbygobblers. Talk about being bitched - what a torrid time they've had. They'll be looking for some A&E rest time for the next three years at least.
