Bit bored atm, so I thought I'd look up the records of the last 15 Arc de Triomphe winners and their dams.
15/15 ran at least 3 times in their winning season
13/15 had won over 12f. The other 2; 1 never run over further than 10f (Bago), the other beaten a length on its only try over 12f.
14/15 had won a group 1 race. Sagamix was having it's 1st run in a group 1.
15/15 had won at least 50% of all their previous races.
No horse aged 6+ has won since 1932
No winner has won the race twice since Alleged in 1978
No winner in the last 15 years had previously run in the race
No French trained 4yo+ winner since Urban Sea in 1993.
On the dam side of things, I could only find results for 10 of them, possibly the other 5 never ran in their careers. Of which;
All 10 had at least placed over 10f
6 had won from 10-13f. This would emphasise the need for stamina on the dam side. Shame Frankel won't be running.
at 1st glance Pour Moi looks a worthy favourite, but I feel he will be better suited to small fields, eventhough he won the Derby, and that Workforce has to be layed.
