As for tomorrow, if Elusive Pimpernel stays the distance then surely this will be a penalty kick for him. Opposition not great and as long as he gets the trip he should get his first success of the year.

Can't believe the price of this it should be 6/4 for me.

Monsieur Chevalier 9/4 Newmarket 3.30

Has come back after missing the whole of 2010 running a few fair races before coming 2nd in the Group1 Golden Jubilee Stakes on soft, this race is Listed Class and Monsieur has a massive 15lbs on the OR of the nearest horse, even better that the ground has come up soft which is what he wants.

"We also run Monsieur Chevalier up there in the Hopeful Stakes, and his chance has been enhanced by the rain. He relishes a bit of cut, as he showed when runner-up to Society Rock in the Golden Jubilee at Royal Ascot, but he never let himself down on the firm ground in the July Cup and that run is best ignored.

Dux Scholar @ 9/2

Hannon 11/1 double

Monsieur Chevalier 9/4
Dubawi Gold 11/4 - No fav

Already gone over the other, looks a fight between Emerald Commander, Beacon Lodge and Dubawi Gold to finish behind the fav, the latter got no run last time wouldn't of beat the clear winner but am pretty sure it would of been ahead of Beacon Lodge.

23/1 Acca

Liverpool
Wigan HT/FT CC Final
Dubawi Gold - No fav
Monsieur Chevalier

todays £5 patent consists of; All at Ladbrokes

Eternal Heart 9/1...2.15 Goodwood.
Drunken Sailor is screaming to be taken on. Struggles to put back to back wins to his name, and is giving 2st+ away on softened ground. Eternal Heart has the perfect 3/3 when running r-h in single figure faces. Front runner on soft ground..love em.

Emerald Commander 12/1...3.20 Goodwood.
Ground has now come for him. Figures on softened ground are 11231132. Group 2 performer in his own right. Pacemaker on soft ground

Simon de Montfort 7/1...6.40 Windsor
For reasons stated earlier in the thread. Hopefully, the freshness shown at Haydock, is now out of his system. Potentially group 1.

Pour Moi misses the Arc and possibly may be finished, no idea what sort of injury he has picked up.

Such a shame as I reckon he'd of smashed the lot of them at Longchamp, the turn of foot he showed at Epsom was unforgettable.

Did Eternal Heart last min ew, so a got my stake back plus a (literal) few pennies. Drunken Sailor a horse I like but thought he was giving too much weight away on soft ground today. Decided to back EH as I was sure one of DS and Motrice would be unplaced.

Got a double on Wigan to beat Leeds and Chelsea to beat Norwich.

Fancy Poet's Voice to win this one at Goodwood. I know SBS said he'll come on for the run, but he could beat this lot without being fully fit. Don't really rate Dubawi Gold. Was a flattered second in a bewildering Newmarket Guineas, before finishing second in an awful Irish equivalent. Beacon Lodge has optimum conditions but will probably find one too good. Premio Loco hasn't enjoyed much success this season and the ground will be too soft for him to fire at his best. Riggins will be outclassed. Emerald Commander needs to bounce back from last run but the ground will suit and he will probably out-run his price. Set The Trend has won over the course but that wasn't much of a listed race (favourite bombed out badly, leaving some similarly matched horses fighting the finish). So, that leaves me hoping the jolly can repeat last years success. His QE11 win is light years ahead of anything his opponents have achieved, with the high class Rip Van Winkle in 2nd.

Oh well, Hughes masterclass it was. Didn't beat much one the favourite weakened though.

Am I missing something? why is the Pimpernel even money and not about 1/2 against a load of handicappers.

Has plenty of stamina on his dam's side, even if he is out of Elusive Quality.

The chances are that he has not trained on, but saying that, Windsor form is about as reliable as Chester and Epsom.

Simon de Montfort is now given a wide-berth, looks like Godolphin have ruined another 1. As for Pour Moi, just another in a longline of mysterious injuries that finishes some high-class horses career. Reputation in tact as a derby winner, stud value-sky high. Frankel the next retired horse?

HAYDOCK SPRINT CUP...GROUP 1..6F

5 days to go, and homework done. 1st of all, a few facts going back for the last 23 years.
21/23 had previously, irrespective of finishing position, ran at some time in a group 1 race before winning this. DEACON BLUES
15/23 had at least been placed in a race of 7f or further.
21/23 had won over at least 6f.

No July cup winner in the last 23 years. DREAM AHEAD
Winners age is pretty much immaterial.
Best trials are July Cup, Maurice de Gheest, Nunthorpe and Golden Jubilee.

Plenty in with chances, but at the prices, DELAGATOR 10/1 @ Hills.
The proverbial fly in the ointment is Hitchens @25/1 Hills. Just about scrapes into group 2 class on my ratings, has won at group 3 level, and bids to emulate 3 other winners, by coming straight here after being beaten in the July Cup at Newmarket.
