This year I want to see Us going forward in the last 5 minutes even if we are 40 points up.

Re: The Football Chat Thread : Sun Dec 04, 2011 3:38 pm
Yesterday if anything the results proved that the likes of Norwich, Wigan, and Bolton are not fit to be in the premier league as equal opponents. Newcastle second half looked like the 3 teams above. Is it me or have some sides just given up against the likes of City, Utd, lpool, Arsenal, Spurs, And Chelsea?

Let me guess, you're judging this from Match of the Day highlights?

Second half Newcastle could have easily won a point. Chelsea scored two in the last few minutes to make it look convincing but it could have been different.

And so you aim towards the sky,

Far from pain....

Loved that '82 Brazil team.

It probably helps with being an innocent, uncynical 11 year old at the time, but that World Cup was the greatest of all time by a long chalk.

Fantastic, flamboyant Brazil and France sides, some absolute belting games (Brazil-Italy, France-W.Germany, etc), a young Diego Maradona, the finest hat trick in the best football game of all time from Paolo Rossi, and Alan Hansen making a complete t!t of himself against the Soviets, which sent the Scots home ( ).....What more could a football fan want, it had everything.

What's baffling is that after the sterile rubbish that was the 2010 World Cup, Spain were hailed as the greatest side of all time??.... ......Absolute rubbish, they wouldn't have got out of the group stage in 1982.

I was judging newcastle on the fact they should have gotten something but their inabilty and other sides in the premier to take the chances that the big 6 sides give you on a regular basis is becoming a comedy.

Every team has spent money. The thing that irk's people with City and Chelsea is that they don't bring anybody through themselves. No emphasis on youth whatsover, buying an entire team. The great Liverpool and United teams all had alot of players brought through the club. There was a City "fan" giving Paul Lake loads on twitter, didn't have a clue who he was.

I aren't a City fan but pretty sure Joe Hart and Micah Richards came through their youth system?.

Quite, i can't wait for Spain passing teams to death for 85 minutes next summer... i'd rather watch Russia v Czech Republic than a Spain match

Joe Hart was bought from Shrewsbury at a young age.

City will be justified in the amounts of money they are spending if in 10 years time they have produced half of their side from their academy. That's my main gripe will Chelsea, both clubs were taken over with long term goals in mind as well as the short term success. It's understandable that the short term success needs to come in the form of "big name" signings both to get trophies and increase the image of the club across the world. However Chelsea have invested huge amounts of money (as City will) in their youth system, state of the art facilities and coaching and yet there hasn't been 1 player that has really broke through into the Chelsea team as of yet.

If City can become more self sustainable (following the Barca model) in 10-20 years time and stay at the top of the prem, then fantastic. They are giving themselves the best chance to do this by not only investing in short term success, but also doing their utmost to ensure that the legacy of the current ownership will last a lot longer than Carlos Tevez and his £250k a week wage sitting in Argentina.

I would agree with you there....it had everything :)

I will add Northern Ireland's win over Spain, The crown prince of Kuwait trying to organise a walk off of his team v France, Schumacher's G.B.H on Battison and the "Fix" match between the Germans & Austria :)

Steven Taylor out for rest of season. Means we'll have to put up with Perch for another few weeks :(. Hopefully Pardew will receive funds in January, but not holding out for it.
