Not a single shot on target in 90 minutes and you're blaming the ref for the defeat? Really?

Apparently Yakubu was booed yesterday after scoring his first because he high fived Steve Keane   Ridiculous.

Just watching the Everton v Stoke highlights. Lee Mason has put in the worst refereeing performance I've ever seen in my life. He cannot judge even a basic foul. So many today where the player beats the sliding defender to the ball and is brought down. Free kick? No.

Another thing he did really poorly on was fouls from set pieces. Stoke's masterplan from corners and free kicks was to bear hug the Everton player. Fellaini was fouled from pretty much every set piece, Vellios the same. There were two that were absolutely ridiculously blatant and were ignored. First was Fellaini where he was held so tightly by Shawcross that he could barely do anything from a great chance from a header. Appeals to the ref and almost gets booked. Another where Vellios has an easy chance to nod in the equaliser in the second half. He's got two arms around him and as he attempts to jump to nod it in the defender just keeps hold, ending up in a headlock. He then attempts to flick a foot at it and again the bald fool ignores it.

Lee Mason was woeful today and as you rightly say he should've awarded a penalty today but he was nowhere near as bad as we were, we didn't have an attempt on goal all game, we surrended possession time and again and allowed Stoke to push us around, horrible performance (even worse with a hangover!) as bad as Mason was we lost the game not him. However the worst of the lot was Moyes' comments saying we'd dealt with the corner, it'd only been cleared as far as the edge of the box, we hadn't dealt with anything.

No, the Fellaini one, the ball comes in the box and he has two arms around him. It's a foul. But as I said on the day we weren't good enough. No attempts on goal tell its own story.

That's fair enough then. The booing and crying for a pen from the Everton fans was a tad desperate.

After watching 15 minutes of the 2nd half I had to ask myself how the hell Latics had lost 3-1 to Everton. Are we really THAT bad?

I genuinely think you are unfortunately. I look at the Latics team and there isn't 1 player who'd I'd REALLY want at Blackpool, especially on Saturday. And that's not my saying we have a great squad, cos we don't. I just think it is a very week team on paper.

Is it? There were at least two incidents in the game where an Everton player was prevented from scoring by being bear hugged by a defender. It really couldn't have been any more clear.

Everton were appalling, but so were Stoke. They scrambled a fluke goal and were never going to score another one either. One of the worst adverts for the Premier League you'll ever see.

But that doesn't take away the fact that the referee wsa hopeless. You don't get penalties as a reward for having a certain amount of attempts on goal.

Widnes will be glad to get away from Leigh. They've been regularly pumped, roasted and left in the alley-way by the lobbygobblers. Talk about being bitched - what a torrid time they've had. They'll be looking for some A&E rest time for the next three years at least.

This.

It's been a privilege to watch some of the major international footy during '90 through to '06. '10 was just dreadful.

May have to keep my head down during the Euro's next year, as there's a possibility I'll be living in France.

I blame the complete lack of comedy teams any more.

Remember the good old days when if you drew Andorra or Faroe Islands you'd end up facing ten goat herders and a milkman who were about park (the place, not the Korean midfielder) standard footballers?

Not any more. Now they're all organised and at least know how to get eleven behind the ball and make it difficult for the better sides. Even the days of comedy African sides (Zaire in 74 anyone, not understanding the rules at a free kick?) are gone.

Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

Before my time, but even I've seen the game where Caniggia got the sh*t kicked out of him by Cameroon. Class.

I've only been fortunate enough to actually watch four world cups (was only three for '94), my favourite was probably France '98, purely because it was my first taste of a proper tactically strong side. It was also the first time I witnessed a true superstar (R9). After that, 2006 was an absolutely outstanding that had all sorts. The game between Argentina and Mexico is probably my favourite game of all time, the Maxi volley is probably the greatest 'av a swing at it' ever scored.

Not remotley close to Van Basten's Euro '88 effort. One of the greatest goals I have ever seen.
