I suppose that's open to how subjective you are in defining acchievement.

If it's by trophies won, then everyone other than Ferguson, Mancini, Warnock and Rogers in the league at the moment were failures last season.

In 11 months he's filling Anfield again, got us playing better football, in a Carling Cup Semi Final and not without a chance of finishing 4th. That'll do for me for his first year back.

The level-headed Liverpool fans would have known that top 4 was their target this year, while the hardcore King Kenny Messiah God Second-Coming Best Manager In The Prem brigade would have been thinking the title was (rightfully, as they used to be successful) theirs due to Suarez being the best striker in the universe.

Haven't seen the tackle in video yet but theres not much you can do to defend that. It's high and two footed.

Liverpool have the same points as they had in 2009-10 and 4 more than the 19 they'd accrued after 14 games in 2010-11.

if the coach had been anyone else do you think the majority of LFC fans would be so supportive of the coach ?

as a Spurs fan we are used to mediocrity but LFC are a masive club with high expectations - I just hope the King can turn it around for you...

and Cata - in 2009/10 LFC finished 7th and in 2010/11 LFC finished 6th

they are now 7th so where is the progress ?

Why? Because they won the league quite a few times over 20 years ago? BLACKBURN have won the league more recently

That's such a bad photo, it really is untrue. What that doesn't show is the ball 15 yards up field because Spearing cleared it. His right foot is raised because he's hit the ball away, you simply can't kick a ball without raising your foot, especially if you clear it. His left foot, again, the photo doesn't show much. His left foot went 'between' his legs, the studs don't go near any of his legs. The only foot that makes any kind of contact is the right foot, but how can you kick a ball without following through, especially when you want to clear it down field?

We've won pretty much every trophy available to us other than the league over the past 10 years. Even if we've not achieved massive amounts over recent years, we're still a massively supported club and easily have one of the biggest fan bases in the world. There is no rule in defining the size of a club, it's all a matter of opinion, if you don't think we're big any more, great, but nobody really cares about you. I'm sure the millions of Liverpool fans in all corners of the world will view their club as big, and you'll have a hard time convincing them otherwise.

And as for Dalglish, it's at that point where I just can't listen to his pre and post match interviews anymore. It's so monotone, slow, lumbered, like he can't be bothered. There is no passion in his voice for the club, and he seems to be starting a blame culture now. Was really suprised last night that he didn't focus on the ref and blame him for the defeat.

Was listening to a podcast the other week where the journalist Rory Smith was talking about Kenny. Basically, he said he'd met Kenny in different places throughout his career. Said he'd drank with him and he was charming and a good laugh, said he'd met him for interviews and he was really nice and 'wise', if you will. Then he said he'd met him at pressers and he was cold, stubborn and very reluctant. He couldn't understand why he went from one of the nicest blokes in football, to one of the most awkward people in football. It's just Kenny's demeanour as manager, he knows our fans don't like the press and the way he gives the press the cold shoulder is something our fans probably like. Me personally, I don't want to see my manager being friendly with the press, but that's just me.

Re: The Football Chat Thread : Wed Dec 07, 2011 12:05 am
On some angles it does look a harsh red, but on others it looks like a clear red for a dangerous, reckless challenge.

The main reason to defend him is that he did clearly win the ball. But against him there's the fact that he went diving in with both feet off the floor, he had no control, and he was clearly going to take the man out even if he won the ball.

The fact is that if that tackle was done on Suarez then you'd be screaming for an instant red card.

I don't think the ref was wrong at all to give the red card. A major part of his job is to protect players from reckless challenges. The only person to blame was Spearing - for putting in a massively aggressive challenge when it wasn't warranted.
