Lord God Jose Mourinho wrote:
On some angles it does look a harsh red, but on others it looks like a clear red for a dangerous, reckless challenge.

The main reason to defend him is that he did clearly win the ball. But against him there's the fact that he went diving in with both feet off the floor, he had no control, and he was clearly going to take the man out even if he won the ball.

The fact is that if that tackle was done on Suarez then you'd be screaming for an instant red card.

I don't think the ref was wrong at all to give the red card. A major part of his job is to protect players from reckless challenges. The only person to blame was Spearing - for putting in a massively aggressive challenge when it wasn't warranted.

Nice facts. Fact is, if a player clattered into Suarez like that, I'd call him a bell but I wouldn't ask for a red card because that would be daft. Look:

Image

He doesn't go 'in' to the challenge with his feet off the ground, his right foot leaves the ground to clear the ball, which is to be expected, but his left is just following his momentum and clearly doesn't target any of his legs. It was an aggressive challenge, but the only way Spearing was getting to the ball was by getting there quickly, and the ball was there to be won.

He obviously got the ball but IMO he left his foot in to do some damage, there did look to be a bit of movement towards the Fulham players' foot.

But i'm biased obviously

We've won pretty much every trophy available to us other than the league over the past 10 years. Even if we've not achieved massive amounts over recent years, we're still a massively supported club and easily have one of the biggest fan bases in the world. There is no rule in defining the size of a club, it's all a matter of opinion, if you don't think we're big any more, great, but nobody really cares about you. I'm sure the millions of Liverpool fans in all corners of the world will view their club as big, and you'll have a hard time convincing them otherwise.

I have no issue with Liverpool being labelled a big club, they are, but i don't buy into the whole ''Liverpool SHOULD be competing for trophies every year, they're Liverpool of course they should''. In fact, to be fair, it isn't specific to Liverpool, we get it about Arsenal and Chelsea too. It's that kind of elitist drivel that is turning / has turned football in this country to a joke, in terms of competitiveness. When Man Utd are no longer competing for trophies every year, i will quite happily punch in the balls any pundit or fellow Utd fan who claims ''Oh Man Utd should be competing every year. Nasri wants out of City already.

Barcelona were great to watch last night. Fair enough their opponents were abysmal but some of the passing was scary and the average age was just 23. Isaac Cuenca looks like yet another Masia gem. Lovely cheeky heel for Pedro's first goal.

IMO, it's out of him, van Persie and Aguero. Suarez started the season like a house on fire, he's calmed down a little since then, but the only two that have been better than him have been RvP and Aguero, IMO again. To be honest, he could do with an injury or something (probably a ban after that digit) to give him a few games off. He played all the way through the Copa and came straight back into pre-season with us, he's still our best player, but he could probably do with a few games off, as he does look a little tired.

I've only seen the goals, as I watched Chelsea last night, but even just watching them you can see how special they were. That must've been so good to watch for 90 mins, even if Bate didn't turn up. Loved the little turn that won the penalty too, the passing and movement for, I think the second, was brilliant. If you're a kid wanting to learn the game, that's the place to do it.

I'd rather have Grant Holt than Suarez

Rooney been better. Suarez on the deck too much. 8 goals in 25 games I think for Liverpool. Shoddy.
