Beat them already this season, albeit in the charity shield, but that wasn't played in the usual way. There is a reason we play 38 games. Liverpool were outstanding in the 2008/2009 season and only lost two games and I don't think lost until Feb, then Rafa wet his knickers and they fell off the pace a little. Arsenal were flying in 2007/2008, playing far better football than City are now, then Gallas went crackers and they fell off the pace. Look at us in 1998, 12 points clear and looking unbeatable then Arsenal went on a run and passed us. A long way to go.

The 25 years was in reference to Fergies reign. Probably not explained in the best possible way. Sorry.

Are you basing that on the exit of United and City last night? While I personally think that Madrid and Barça are well ahead of their nearest rivals both domestically and on the continent, the other two La Liga representatives finished 3rd and bottom of their groups. If they don't get drawn against each other it'll be a Madrid v Barcelona final and I can only see Bayern Munich challenging them.

I think you may have the wrong player there too. I don't remember Guardiola saying Rooney would struggle to get into the Barcelona youth team, but I do remember him saying "He is one of the greatest players in the world as there are very few players with his qualities. He’s a player I admire very much."

the Sky coverage along with ESPN is good but I can't think of many games which contained top class football - the odd Arsenal,Spurs & Man City game maybe but the rest has been a very ordinary class of football IMO
there just sems to be too many mediocre overseas players dragging down the overall level in the Premiership,again IMO

dont see how you work this out too be fair. For me the only 3 teams in Europe tat would challenge the top 4 over the course of a season would be Barca Real and maybe Munich. Premiership teams have tough games every weekend then have too back it up in europe. Barca and Real dont have that problem

No chance of Utd signing a midfielder now. Who'd want to come and play in the Europa league?

4 full priced Thurday night games with the Auto cup scheme being enforced might be enough to turn a few more against the Glazers though.
