Good to see a bit of positivity. I thought we would get beat at Scunthorpe, so you can imagine my mindset in the build-up to the game.
Regardless of the result, I think it's good to see that the Carling Cup has attracted a lot of interest this season. The viewing figures for the first-leg between City and United had a viewing audience of over 8m, while last years FA Cup final attracted about 2m less viewers. And that was a final that included the People's Club (C).
Another positive is that some teams are beginning to take this trophy seriously. United appear to be more determined to win this trophy than at any other time in the last 20 years. So much so, they played all their big guns at City. First time I can remember Ferguson doing that in any domestic competition game (with the exception of finals). I can only imagine that he sees this as United's best, and most realistic hope of silverware this season.
