whoever kicks for home first is winning. dancing rain should be in the places for sure. wish i'd had a little saver now.

something must've been amiss with ferdoos - showed nothing and callan never looked happy.

well what a brilliant horse. amazing. kept 90% of my profits and a bet on so you think. he was held up for most of the race in the arc yet produced one excellent burst of pace. that sort of burst could be deadly here. he has his ground and ideal trip.

hopefully tomato head hannon jnr will now admit frankel was far superior to canford. frankel beat canford by 5l, and dick turpin today by about 8. Canford was probably 3L better than DT. seems like he's ran to the same level again. Brilliant run from excelebration though, he doesn't know how to run a bad race and would be undoubted champion miler had this wonderhorse not been around.


just seen in the RP comments for the 3pm at Ascot, Ferdoos broke a blood vessel, could go some way to explaining why she was more or less pulled up.

What rating Frankel gets after that romp is anyone's guess. Again, visually impressive, but again, the time leaves something to be desired. Taking the group 1 Queen Anne stakes over the same c/d, 8 horses have run a faster time in the last 12 years. Including Canford Cliffs ( 1 second faster) and Goldikova ( almost 2 seconds faster). I'm getting the feeling, that other jockeys and trainers are running scared of him, thus changing tactics to suit Frankel and not their own horse. We had a similar scenario with Carvills Hill a few years ago. A brilliant jumper with any amount of speed, but, when pressured by another horse ( 1 of Pitmans ims, in the Gold Cup) he fell apart. Frankel is certainly impressive, but from a final-time point of view, he just rates as a very good miler. I've not rated the 3yos much over middle-distances this season, now, apart from Frankel, the rest are an average bunch. Will have to check up on results from all-aged listed/ group races run in Britain this year.

btw, any prices for Frankel to win sports personality of the year?

First Lieutenant goes again today. Can't really be backing him though. Should win but this is all just part of his fencing education. Looks to have a few decent horses in opposition too.

The Champion Stakes was certainly interesting. Midday lost her race after 3f and where does the Hype Horse go from here? But, you must feel sorry for Soumillion. £55k out of pocket after riding a brilliant race and proving me totally wrong. But, surely, if he's broken the rules, then surely, the horse must be penalised aswell, afterall, rules have been broken. It's certainly a murky situation that needs sorting out immediately. The obvious fear being that foreign horses/ jockeys will not come over here for fear of severe reprisals. It was noticeable, that a few of the jockeys did'nt seem too interested in the final furlong when their chance had seemingly gone.

The 2nd worry would be from a betting point of view. Maybe, it will be wise to bet horses that race prominently, especially in double figure fields. You certainly dont need horses that have to be pushed along to get going. Another problem for punters.

These new whip rules need changing straight away.

Richard Hughes said months ago that you could whip his bare backside in the Newmarket paddock for half an hour and it wouldn't hurt as the whips are cushioned, he said it is the noise of the whip against the flesh that concentrates them, not hurts them.

Soumillon rode a cracker and he has been very hard done by, IMO.

As for SYT. Stud is now on the agenda surely. Only hope he really has of winning any group 1 races next year is if connections cherry pick soft ones such as the Tattarsalls Gold Cup, or he goes everywhere Frankel doesn't. I reckon Frankel will manage 10f fine. Another winter on his back and he should be more relaxed. I can't remember seeing a flat horse love their racing so much. Half of Tom's battle is keeping him restrained as it just looks like he is screaming 'let me go and finish it'.

Born To Sea looks a tremendous prospect and he should have no problem with 10f either.

Weapon's Amnesty ruled out this season again too. Been off track since suffering injury when winning 2010 RSA at Cheltenham and, despite working again over summer, has suffered a recurrence. Was a classy winner of a novice hurdle in 2009 at the festival as well. Thought he would make a Gold Cup contender this year. Shame as now we probably will never see him show his true potential, may never see him run again at all.
