Impressed by City yesterday, they seemed to play with a lot more pace than I've seen recently. Helped in no small part by Sunderland's woeful defending but you still have to do it don't you? Impressed (as ever) by Kompany as well, such a solid defender and also comes across as a non-kn0bhead too which is refreshing in this day and age.

I don't normally comment on City games but I have to say that I am still shocked by that performance. Maybe not having a midweek game had as much impact as the change in formation and personnel.

As for Kompany, he is my choice for City POTY. He's been superb.

UEFA did Drogba for swearing at the camera after the Barca semi.

If you want to talk about consistency, how deafening is the silence over Vidic not getting a second yellow when he earned it?

When Luiz got away with it against United it was the issue of the week. United had been robbed and it was all down to refereeing. But United get the benefit of a similar decision and everything is fine.

Drogba called into question ghe integrity of the ref whilst swearing. You omitted that bit. Micah Richards swore post match in a FA Cup match a couple of years ago and no action was taken. Redknapp told Rob Palmer to f**k off in an interview, again no action.

That wasn't a yellow card for me. Similar to Luiz's first on Hernandez if anything. Nothing on it really.

EE, if this was somethig new you could've had United fans going mental about Bernstein, but United's reputation goes before them and always has. Hazard of being the biggest club in the world.

Rio misses a drug test - 8 month ban and 50k fine.
Negoui (sp) misses a drug test - 2k fine

Rooney and Scholes get sent off in Amsterdam pre season tournament - both receive bans
Gerrard and Mellor get sent off in the same tournament a year later - no ban.

I see today Wenger has had his latest "fixture list is fixed" rant and is questioning the authority's integrity. Wonder what he'll get. I won't hold my breath.

Just a couple of examples of the rubbish we have to put up with.

Re: Football Chat Thread : Mon Apr 04, 2011 8:18 pm
TBH I don't know the difference between Christian Negouai's case and Ferdinand's. I would have thought Negouai's was a bit different to most as he got off very lightly. Maybe the FA felt Negouai being available to play was more detrimental to City. I think he only started a couple of games.

I can think of many, many instances that suggest we are not favoured by the FA. From Kevin Horlock and his 'aggressive walking' to Adebayor being called to account for celebrating in front of Arsenal fans although Van Persie ran towards City fans and then verbally abused them and got away with it. Then we have Pnouha sent-off because the Doncaster slid into him and so on and so on.

The two game ban for Rooney is a joke but not surprising at all. I think on appeal it will be cut to one game.

That was a classic moment but surely it was more to do with the dodginess of the ref who sent him off than the FA?

PFA Player of the year shortlist is out.

Charlie Adam
Gareth Bale
Scott Parker
Samir Nasri
Carlos Tevez
Nemanja Vidic

Glaring ommissions or me are Vincent Kompany and Edwin Van Der Sar. Not sure ow Bale's in there.

Ronaldo and Nani dive (btw so does Rooney and Evra) so a United fan can't have an opinion on it? Let's be honest, if it was Drogba, Nani, Wilshire or Gerrard that cheated it would be all over the papers saying how diving is getting out of hand. A dodgy, marginal decision on the goal line does not condone cheating.

I think cheating to directly effect a result is as high up on "the list" as you can get

I didn't say you couldn't have an opinion, I'm just surprised it was that way to be honest. Seen the incident a few times and I don't see why you've made such a big thing of it. Makoun comes running over, Jagielka anticipates the tackle and Makound slows/stops just as he gets there, although there is still slight contact. I don't remeber the papers making that big a thing of anyone diving for one incident, Ronado, nani do it constantly that's why they were singled out. There's been worse and nothing made of it. Whether the contact was enough to take him over was debatable, calling him a cheat is way OTT.
