But hang on a minute, watch Barcelona or your South Americans play, all they do is exactly the same thing that Jens Lehmann is so adamant that is boring football. Push the ball about and bore the opposition to death. Possession football. All they do is average between 3 and 4 goals a game as the ball fortunately ricohets into the net. That's no good is it. No what you want to do is pass the ball about in exactly the same kind of way then keep on passing it round the opponents box until you get tackled rather than taking a shot.

That's the type of football Latics TRY to play. We just aren't very good at it

Same old repeated tosh.....I actually have some sympathy with the premise of your argument, but your constant, childish re-hash of this opposition to city's wealth is very, very tiresome.

I just find it hard to take anything that they do seriously because of how much they've spent to do it. In all fairness you could take any football club and do what they're doing with that sort of money, it reminds me of the old Championship Manager games years ago where you could win the Champions League with a team like Hull City - it just doesn't feel real when you're so used to Man City being an average team, it just feels so false.
The thought of them jumping around in May with the Premiership title singing 'Championes....' is just funny to me - if I was a City fan I'd find it very very hard to take any pride or sense of achievement in it, that's all.

Did you hear Strachan on the CL extra program? Said that AvB's 'new approach' meant John Terry now had a defence to work with. Before that, everybody but John was attacking, the full backs didn't defend and David Luiz was leaving John to do it all on his own. P*ss funny howeverybody in the media criticises everybody at Chelsea but The Brave One and his porky mate.

You could have said the same of City last year. The main difference in style between City last year and this is that the passing has speeded up, particularly from defense. Mancini hasn't radically changed the style of play, the team have just got better at it. There were a few games last year, like the 4-1 at Fulham, where it was obvious what Mancini was trying to achieve and glimpses within other games. But too often it was played at snail's pace.

City's first goal of last season was a decent effort by Barry against Liverpool. A lot of City fans got carried away by the fact that there were 20+ passes in the build up. However after 12 passes the ball was in exactly the same place as when the move started and Liverpool had all their players in position behind the ball. This season we'd have cut out the first 12 passes and just moved the ball quicker. Less is more.

If it was your team you would love it and you know it.

I have been supporting City for 32 years and I really couldn't care less what fans of other clubs think and I couldn't care less about Championship Manager jibes. Neither can any of the other 45,000 regulars either.

Fact is none of that money was mine so I don't care how we got to get those eleven players on the pitch. All as I know is I am now finally being rewarded for those years of patience with winning, entertaining football and, you know what, paid for or not, winning that FA Cup in May felt every bit as good as I ever dreamed it would, no matter how much we spent on those players.

So you can jibe away all you want old boy but these are great times to be a Blue and I'm loving it. Absoultely loving it!:)

Re: The Football Chat Thread : Sat Dec 10, 2011 3:18 pm
Trying to listen to football commentary on a liverpool radio station is infuriating sometimes.

In summary, Louis Suarez is a little angel who has never done anything wrong in his life. The reason he hasn't scored for a while is because he is being victimised by an uncaring FA.

There was never any racism or bad behaviour and Evra is playing the race card. Whatever he said was not racist although people shouldnt jump to conclusions if they think he was. So its ok for them to jump to conclusions, just not anyone else.

The referees are out to get liverpool every week. They never punish rooney or ferguson so put out of your mind their previous suspensions for bad behaviour. They purposely give them referees that the commentary team know are against liverpool.

There are huge double standards in the game and Liverpool are always on the receiving end of bad decisions by the FA and referees alike.

Off putting I have to say hearing all this absolute whinging.

So basically what you're saying is only United should be allowed to win the league (who themselves have spent millions and millions of pounds themselves to win the league year after year).

You're living in cloud cuckoo land. Pretty much no team will ever be able to win the league without spending big money these days. It's impossible to win the league simply from building a team from scratch. The gap between the big boys and the smaller teams is simply too big. Get over it - this personal crusade of yours is boring. The financial disparity between teams is ridiculous. If a team without success receives a large cash injection goes on to win the league and break up the monotonous cycle of the same teams winning year in year out then I'm all for it

What purpose does it serve to keep harping on about it? What are you trying to achieve? What do you expect to happen? City fans to all fawn at your altar proclaiming you to be the holy messiah of football ethics? Do you expect them to all drop tools and following your crusade around the country where you turf everybody out of the football temple because they're all slaves to money? Then what? Are you and a few City fans going to kick the ball around in a field behind your mum's house where you can celebrate a 11-3 victory over the other team which had to use rush-goalie because there were odd numbers? Are you going to get your mum to bake a cake for full time so you and your new mates can all pontificate about how you've reclaimed the integrity of the game from professionalism? Propose a toast to the spirit of cujo with your orange squash? Then what, complain to your mum for not maintaining the integrity of fruit by giving you cordial instead of real juice to go with your prawn cocktail crisps? What if she says no? Are you then going to raise up an internet army of whiny little maggots who think that cordial is the devil and does nothing other than force unwanted sugars into the defenceless mouths of little children?
