Champion Court back out today over fences at Aintree, trying to put his dissapointing run at Perth behind him like Court In Session did at Cheltenham a few weeks back.
Priced around 3/1 he is a fair price to be honest and I wouldnt put anyone off backing him, however for me its a race to watch and learn to risk money on. Its a hot race, a very hot race to be honest and Champ takes his chance against Bears Affair who beat Champ in a bumper on debut (in receipt of 7lb) they both came well away from the rest and you could tell they were both smart. Henderson didnt risk Bears Affair last year in any of the big races and instead let him win a couple of easy novice hurdles to continue his progression ready for chasing this year, he is a very good horse. Mccoy on board, sure he could have rode Champ again, so maybe thats a marker. Astracad won the race at Perth ithat Champ unseated in so hard to say what would have happened had he stayed on his feet. Astracad went away and won with the stamp of a nice chaser too and is dangerous representing the Twisting Davies camp. Add Saint Are from the Hobbs camp who could be anything and in many ways you have the best novice chase race of the season so far in my eyes and for that, I'll have to leave it alone but hope Champion Court runs well and has a clear round.
