It's the media darlings unfortunately. Bale, Parker and Adam have been w**ked over all year. I think Nani's diving has gone against him and I can't say I disagree. As a United fan I would rather see VDS nominated, can't complain with Vidic though. I would argue that Tevez should be nowhere near the list, in a similar vein that Nani isn't. He's caused a lot of distruption for the club this season and been a general c**k. When you look at City and why they have been successful, you can't look past Kompany. You could probably argue that he's been the best defender in the league.

Look at the history of this award though and you can see it's inconsistent (I've been using that word a lot recentley). Giggs winning it a couple of years ago was purely for nostalgia. Ferdinand, Ginola, RVN all won it when there were far more deserving players in their respective years.

Scott Parker for POTY?

If it was based on hype and effort, I could understand it. However, there are more worthy players from other clubs. For example, De Jong has been far more impressive IMO. Although I guess his reputation in the press did not help his cause.

Surely nobody would begrudge Charlie Adam being nominated. He's come up from the Championship, he's pretty much single handidly given an awful side a chance of staying in the league, has scored goals, created goals and created chance after chance that DJ Campbell has fluffed, I think he's been a joy to watch this year, a player that has been allowed to express himself in games.

I admire the role that the likes of De Jong do, the 'Makelele' role but if somebody was to pick up a POTY award for it, it would be a sad state of affairs for the league if they had been the 'best player'.

Nani is a great shout, provided the most assists this season and scored a reasonable amount of goals. He's no Ronaldo, but he's become an excellent footballer.

I'd have gone for either Nani or Tevez tbh, both had cracking seasons.

Bale seems overrated to me, had some great games but too inconsistent for me.

Dire first half. Thought that Bosingwa should have done much better with his crosses, 1 decent cross out of 4 simply isn't good enough and he was done for the goal. Awful defensive organisation when you see Rooney picking the ball up in that position completely unmarked.

Poor game, awful atmosphere, nowhere near enough fight in the first half. Massive improvements needed in the second or it's going to be a great day for United.

Lovely goal from Utd, class play from Giggs.

Excellent clearance from Evra to deny Lamps and great save by VDS to deny Torres.

Can feel a Chelsea goal coming though....
