Not really. I can't imagine he's too impressed by the decision. I think they are thinking ahead to the summer. Unsettle him now and snap him up when he's on a sit down protest in June.

What's odd about it?

The low valuation? I'd disagree. Liverpool aren't worthy of Torres right now and he won't want to be there. If Liverpool were still at the top with hope of a title Torres wouldn't want to leave and the fee would be higher. But as Torres prety much doesn't want to stay and is performing like that then how can Liverpool think they're going to get his true market value?

And the fact is, an opening offer will nearly always be improved. Torres could still cost Chelsea 50m+ if the deal were to be agreed.

Fresh rumours today (admittedly only paper talk) about Pip Neville and Spurs. Would be an even odder signing than Pienaar for me that one, however superb he's been for Everton.

How much did Villa go for? Think it was less than £35 million, and he is way better than Torres, so it seems like a fair evaluation from Chelsea.

Torres is a class act IMO - he's just unlucky to be playing in an average side - you give him the service he will do the biz - I think it's a fair price

On the United goalkeeper question I'd like Neuer personally but have heard rumours he's nailed on for Bayern. Other than that, what I've seen of Lopez has always impressed me. Think he could come in and do a good job.
