Would typify Redknapp's embarrassingly poor transfer policy of simply signing anybody with a pulse and a pair of football boots.....12 months ago, Redknapp had a few quid in his pocket and needed to get rid of that regular itch he gets, he signs a player he didn't need and now, lo and behold, he gives him back to the club he got him from...
And the media seriously want this clown to run our national team?....
It sums Redknapp's transfer policy up but with the way things are for us at the minute I'd love Pienaar back, even if it just a loan.

He's a good player. He did well in Holland bar one bad season. I've always rated him. He hasn't been as bad as you say, he's done okay, he's come into a poor team and has looked one of their standout players everytime I've watched Fulham, along with Dembele. He's a better option than Downing.
I've only seen him when Fulham have been on TV and when we went down there, when he scored his first, he's scored two brilliant goals but I haven't seen anything that'd make him a stand out player. He's got the ability so I'd expect him to improve as the season goes on.

Its not a particulary new phenomenon at City, been that way since the move from Maine Rd.They used to show the game on the tellies around the concourse so people would watch the last few minutes on the telly in order to get away early. They've switched off the telly but now people just crowd into the backs of the stands. Must admit that if the game's effectively decided I'll head to the back of the stand during injury time, although not when its as tight as on sunday. Watching the final minutes from near the exits can save me about 25 mins getting out of the car parks.
I do the same trick as you when we are two or three up. I never actually go early but, as you say, getting to that tunnel and hanging about there can save an inordinate amount of time. The ridiculously OTT cordon around the way end already puts 10/15 minutes on the walk back to the car which, by that time, can out an hour on the journey home.
If you go early when it's a tight game, though, what's the point in going to the game at all.

Last time I looked England managers didn't have to sign players. You don't often see Fabio getting the chequebook out do you?
Harry Redknapp took over a Spurs team that was bottom of the league and now, despite a thin squad, are right in the thick of the championship race having won 12, drawn 1 and lost 1 of their last 14 games. It was also he that managed that same club to become the first for a number of years to break the big four and qualify for the Champions League.

Terrible isn't he?
I didn't see Dita criticise what Redknapp's achieved at Spurs, that is commendable, but he's criticising his transfer policy. He unsettled Pienaar and bought him but is yet to give him any sort of a chance, I know he's had his injury problems but you could probably count on one hand the appearances he's made at Spurs since January.

....You are joking?.....Harry almost single-handedly bankrupt Portsmouth in his quest for glory, did similar at Southampton (and relegated them), as spent like a child in a sweet shop at Spurs and has the taxman presently on his case??
He is a Football Manager-style boss who, at international level, would be tactically out of his depth.....Send him to Goodison with no cash and the bloke would be lost.
It baffles me how people believe a club boss should be the national team boss as, as you point out, there is no chequebook at that game.....It may sound daft, but Sam Allardyce would be a better international manager than Redknapp, simply because the man is more proven at getting the best from a pile of crap, which is basically what England are.

All managers will spend every penny they're given. Cant really blame Redknapp if his bosses were daft enough to let him overspend.
That said, I agree his greatest strength is squad building. But I cant think of any particularly good technical coaches that are likely to want the England job.

We had 2 good ones in recent times in Hoddle and Venables, but released both for silly reasons.....At present, Martin ONeill is a good shout and maybe Curbishley, but I agree that its a sparse list....However, Redknapp would be a laughable choice.

I thought all city fans lived within walking distance of the stadium and Manc city centre?

Now fair enough, he spent some dosh at Portsmouth. But you only have to look at some of the fees they recieved to realise that it wasn't him spunking money on bad buys, more just rank bad ownership.
Just off the top of my head, Defoe, Crouch, Diarra, Glen Johnson all got sold for HUGE profits. Any half decent accountant could have kept that club afloat at that time.

Most of those were sold after he left, after he had already 'spunked' all that cash on them.....He was signing big time players, on big wages (Kanu, Muntari, etc) at a club with crowds of less than 20,000!!!!.....Yes, the people who hold the purse strings are the guilty ones, but Redknapp does seem to have a habit of this type of thing??...
My point is that Redknapp is useless without his dodgy wheeler-dealing, and as somebody has already pointed out, that particular trait is going to be useless with England...
