I agree. I remember an arsenal fan on here called lenny the loiner who used to give it big licks relentlessly. I wonder what he thinks now

They'll be lucky to make the top 4.

Even if they do splash the cash, arsene will sign the wrong type of players. All i see them linked with is midfielders. If they are going to sign a midfielder, fine, sign someone different to what's already there. Someone with some power and physical presence in the mould of yaya toure or fellani, or an out and out holding midfielder. The players they are linked with will offer them nothing that they don't already have, except another name on the team sheet.

It's the same sh*t with Arsenal every summer. I remember the summer they signed Mertesacker, Arteta and Benayoun on loan, all on the last day. For a man like Wenger with his extensive contacts across the globe, it made me p*ss that he desperately opted for three average players on the deadline day. It will be the same this week, it happens every year, they moan all summer then desperately scramble for whoever the agents are flaunting the most.

Before we start, I'm pretty furious with Liverpool's antics this summer, I can't grasp WTF they've been up to making half-arsed attempts to sign top drawer players. It appears we've taken the Everton approach to transfers, make pathetic efforts for loads of jazzy players but reality dictates we'll never get them with a bit of loose change in our pocket.

It's worse for Arsenal this year. They bigged up themselves by telling everyone how much money they had. Then they get themselves linked with players and half-arse their attempts to get them.

I think Liverpool have been obsessed with keeping Suarez to the exclusion of all else.

There is talk that you and Arsenal might be planning a bid for Torres. I'm just hoping that happens. I'd volunteer to drive him anywhere we can dump him. Sadly I don't think there is anyone dumb enough to take him off us.

There's also been rumours of Moses and Ba possibly heading your way. I think Moses was okay but he's got too many players ahead of him now. Ba simply hasn't had a chance. I'd keep Ba if ti was down to me but I'm in a minority of CFC fans.

I agree. What must be frustrating for them, though, is that if Diaby could ever stay fit they've probably got one. They look a far better side when he's fit and playing IMO. I think it's key that the 8 years without a trophy is the same period since they've failed to adequately replace Vieira.

However as you say, they always seem to be after similar types of player, and probably the only type of player they don't really need as they have them in abundance. They pretty much need better/more players in every position other than the one they'll shop for.

I'd agree with this.

Wenger has been signing the same type of players for years, small technical gifted maybe but many can't stomach a battle and break down so easy, note sure if its down to bad training techniques or just bad luck.

As LGJM states they've had easier draws in the C.L for years, given their board & manager the notion they are better than they really are.
