I can't answer for Dan, but on behalf of myself I would say pretty much anyone on loan, I'm that desperate.

You would have to wonder about the quality of any player available on a permanent deal at this short notice. Of course Everton COULD be doing stuff behind the scenes but the complete lack of rumours and confirmed bids makes me think they aren't in a position to be buying anyone.

Torres isn't loyal either to continue the debate about him. He wants out of Liverpool, there is no doubt about that. I think it's telling that the likes of Barca and Real Madrid don't want him. I think that is the only reason he's still at Liverpool. The bid by Chelsea is great work though. It's like going up to a wobbly table with a house of cards built on top of it and giving the leg a good dig. Quality work.

Yup, I read all about those. But if administration were a possibility I cannot imagine they would stop at selling Pienaar who was leaving anyway and loaning Yakubu and Vaughan. If they were really that close to going into administration, get the points deduction and become likely to be relegated, would they not just sell Jack Rodwell and Phil Jagielka?

If they needed to I'm pretty sure Everton could, by tomorrow, sell:

Rodwell - Man U £8m (At least)
Neville - Spurs £2.5m (Confirmed interest)
Jagielka - Arsenal/Spurs/Villa.. £5m

Why would Barca want him with Villa there? And RM don't have that kind of cash these days. They wanted Van Nistelrooy for nothing and backed out when Hamburg actually wanted some money for him and took Adebayor on loan, whilst agreeing a fee for him at the end of the year, reportedly have little intention of actually taking him.

I know, that is why I think Torres is keeping relatively quiet. There are no 'big' teams interested in him like United, Milan, Barca, Real etc so he's just biding his time until they do bid. If the rumours about him asking Liverpool to keep negotiating with Chelsea are true it confirms he wants to leave Liverpool.

The bid isn't a surprise. The mid table teams are always having their best players poached by champions league clubs.

I think he'd be a bit daft to join Chelsea though. Their team is a team on it's way down, and given the quality of the players that will need replacing over the next 2-3 years it's a big rebuilding job, just at the time Abramovich has decided to stop flashing ridiculous amounts of cash around. I'm not so sure it's a particularly serious bid either, only £5m more than one already rejected and only a few days before the window closes. Still it keeps the fans happy.

As for him wanting to go, it's quite possible, our targets in this window are hardly world beaters aiming for us to make a charge for the top four.

Though having seen that their deal for Luiz has apparently broken down, it's probably more serious than I thought previously...
