When did football get so dull. Awful. I'm half hoping England don't qualify on account of them being unable to actually play the game.

Skill level was dire.
Result was OK, but really ..........?
Some things never change with England managers.
The right back is allowed to ball watch all game such that he is imperilling the entire right flank.
Walcott is allowed to not use his pace and toss it off. His job is to take them on, which he did occasionally, but not enough.
These are details, but they are cumulative.

This is the poorest England side for many a day.
Ukraine were also shoite.

At least there will be very little unrealistic expectation if this sorry lot make it to Brazil ... which is by no means a given yet.

It was a dull game. The result was a fine one. England players are nowhere near their major competitors and they merely confirmed that.

Way too much whining over the game.

I thought Wilshire was awful, and that made me happy. But before I write him off completely I just need to remember Mata's performance against Brazil. Mata is a great player and capable of exceptional skill. But he was worse against Brazil than Wilshire was last night.

The thing with Wilshere is that ever since a vast portion of our media has become obsessed with Spain, they've built him up to be our great hope, our Xavi if you will... or the English Joe Allen. Fact is, he's nowhere near Xavi, the only similarity is his small frame. One thing i will say though, i thought he was a real sh*tbag, but in interviews he does come across as quite likable and really concerned about the football. He's still a whiny git on the pitch though. That's why i compare him to Tomkins

Club bias aside (which I hardly suffer from anyway), both fully deserved IMO.
