I don't think it was a horrendous tackle. It was a horrendous injury, but the tackle was innocuous.

To be fair, although it was a 50/50 ball, he missed it and kicked Aaron Ramsey's leg with his full force, and that's a sending off. I have no doubt it was unintentional but it's still a sending off.

Wrong. By your reckoning whenever there is a 50/50 the player who doesn't win the ball should be sent from the field of play? We would have 7-a-side games going on everywhere. It was an extremely unfortunate accident. Shawcross possibly got a part of the ball and for me it was a yellow card at worst. Though looking at Shawcross he would of been unable to play on due to the distress it caused himself. All in all an awful accident and you just have to hope that the break is clean and he can be back by the start of next season. If ligaments etc are involved thats when he is going to be in trouble.

Hes probably this upset because Ramsey didnt handle the ball when he went down

  No. A 50/50 tackle in which you kick someone's leg with such force that you break it should result in you being sent from the field of play. Whichever way you dress it up he still missed the ball and kicked Aaron Ramsey with force, that's a sending off whether you break someone's leg or not. I guarantee you that Ryan Shawcross won't be complaining.

I'm struggling to understand your point. Your saying he should go into a 50/50 with less than 100%? He may of missed the ball, i thought i say him clip the top of it, but he wasn't high nor were his studs raised. Are we going to say any challenge that result in injury, whether it be dirty or not, results in a red? This challenge will of happened countless times over the weekend, unfortunately every so often something like this will happen. In my opinion it's nobodies fault. Just an awful accident.

Let me put it this way, if that was Craig Bellamy or Mascherano or countless other players making the tackle, and the opponents weren't Arsenal, then the reaction would be very different. I don't want to see players get sent off, but kicking players legs is dangerous play and not in the laws of the game. If Ramsey hadn't broken his leg he would still have been in a great deal of pain. It was an unfortunate incident, but it was also a foul, and the fact that Shawcross is a 'nice lad' shouldn't mean we bend the rules for him. I hope him and Ramsey recover in their different ways, and that Shawcross is not given a hard time over it.

Okay, so you've sent Shawcross off for breaking his leg. He'll get a 3 match ban for that.

Today Ramsey is interviewed by the papers and, like Chev Walker, he says that he already had an existing fracture which was actually the cause of the break.

Are you going to rescind that red card and 3 match ban?

IMO that challenge simply wasn't worthy of a red card. It was an innocuous challenge. Take away the leg break and there's no way on earth he'd have got red for that. So IMO it shouldn't have been a red card even with the broken leg. Shawcross may or may not be complaining. That doesn't matter to me. IMO the ref should be rescinding that red card whether Shawcross complains or not.

The severity of the tackle is obviously arguable, but that's a ludicrous suggestion IMO. Given the circumstances I think the ref would look a little stupid if he were to rescind the red card.

Shawcross' background or the teams involved have nothing to do with my thoughts on the incident. I think when you look at it they have both gone full blooded. Neither has gone in high. It's just an unfortunate accident, these things happen on a football pitch. Your saying that it wasn't premeditated, it wasn't high and it was extremely unfortunate but he should still be sent off? I'm sorry but that really doesn't make any sense. If you play this weekend and accidentally trip someone who falls badly and fractures an ankle, should you be sent off because you shouldn't of kicked him up in the air with such force? Nope, you made a genuine attempt to play the ball and these things happen.

Once again I'll wish Ramsay a speedy recovery.
