If those Moyes comments are true, then he is a very naïve, and even deluded, bloke.
The facts are pretty clear - Moyes was headhunted by Ferguson and United, in a very unsubtle and arrogant manner. Moyes then chose to lead the Everton fans along for several months over the subject of a new contract at Goodison, before Fergie announced his retirement and then, within a matter of days, Moyes waltzes into the Old Trafford job.
Add to this, his laughable pursuit of Baines and Fellaini, and its little surprise that Everton fans have lost a lot of respect for their old manager.... You also have to remember that Moyes was not universally loved by Everton fans when he was in charge - Certainly not in the manner that the media might have had people believe.... Yes, we all appreciate where he brought us from, to where he left us, but the style of football never won everybody over and, in particular, his record against the so called big clubs was an abysmal one and something which he never ever looked like improving on.
If these comments are correct, then it definitely reveals a mindset that will be his undoing at Old Trafford (and it could be sooner rather than later)..... He obviously has a very high opinion of himself and what he has (or, more importantly, hasn't) achieved so far in his managerial career and I'm not sure United, and their fans, will accept such underachievement as the success that Moyes obviously believes it is. He has already made noises about how the Champions League is beyond them this season and now he is making similar comments about the Premier League being out of their reach - i'm not sure that type of attitude will be entertained for long within Old Trafford.
