Thought Liverpool were poor tonight, especially Carroll. People talked about us having so much of the ball, but the only reason we were afforded such a luxury is because Citeh took the lead early on. They were quite content to just pick us off, as they knew that, with Carroll up front, the only way we were scoring was from a defensive howler. We got close once and Downing bottled it as usual. Charlie Adam was average again, Henderson seems to have everything, but he's far too passive to ever get to the top. He just doesn't seem switched on for 90 minutes. Glen Johnson makes another mistake that results in a goal, his defending on the set piece was woeful, just like his defending of Cabaye was against Newcastle when he flicked it on to Agger's arm.
Overall, not many positives to take. We looked slow, lacked imagination and our only 'threat' is possibly the most predictable player I've ever seen for Liverpool. City's defence just stood and watched Downing every time he cut in, because he has so little faith/ability in his right foot, they could happily show him inside knowing it would result in nothing. Never expected anything like a result tonight so we must move on, hopefully we'll sign a new striker and get Carroll packing. He does less than what Heskey done for us all those years ago, whilst he's just as unproductive.
