Prime example number one. How do you explain the two la liga's? The second European cup final appearance? The Uefa cup win with Valencia? It's embarrassing that you dismiss his biggest achievement as 'somebody else's squad'; why? It doesn't matter who signed them, he still motivated them enough to win the bloody thing. You dismiss things like his tactics and even the players he brought in when he got here. Utterly numb, which alone makes your opinion poorly thought.

You knock his ability to compete as some sort of requirement; did you see who he was competing with when he was here? Mourinho, Wenger and Fergie. Probably the three greatest coaches in English football during the past 15 years or so. He could have done better, no doubt, but he still done a good job in his time here, but people like you make up opinions based on nothing but weightless drivel.

Benitez failed to deliver what every Liverpool fan wants which is the Premiership. He only looked close to winning it in 09 and infact if it wasnt for his pathetic outburst in that January (about Manchester United getting special treatment from the FA plus slagging Alex Ferguson off) he most probably would have won it. Benitez allways took the bait dangled infront of him. You say look at the players he signed well to be quiet honest most of his signings for Liverpool where woeful with the exception of Fernando Torres from Atheltico Madrid and Alonso. You cant be telling me Benitez is a good manager because quite frankly his record in England especially going for the Premiership was woeful and he turned Inter Milan into a second rate team overnight after Jose Mourinho guided them to the treble only months before. Benitez tactics are ok in Spain he has won Championships and The Uefa Cup but his record out of Spain is ordinary at best.

Benitez is an excellent manager.

I don't think he's up there right at the top, but he's not far behind.

His lack of success in bringing the PL to Liverpool was down to Chelsea and Manchester United being at a pretty much unmatchable standard when given the resources Benitez had at Liverpool.

Liverpool probably should have won the title given the position they were in, but I don't think it's completely down to Benitez that they didn't. I think being involved in title challenges is a difficult thing for players to adjust to and it is rare that sides will win at their first real attempt.

One of the biggest criticisms of Benitez is that they didn't kick on from there, but instead collapsed.

Steve Bruce sums up everything that is wrong with English football imo, playing two foreign wingers up front in an end of season mid table game instead of giving a young striker a chance!

Those same assitants who made such a fuss about Rooney swearing that he got a ban yet didn't print anything about Barton, Dalglesh and Crouch swearing on camera in the following weeks?

What a surprise, LGJM talking utter bo!!ocks on he about his boyfriend.

I used to think he was just just on the wind up, now I realise he is just the most biased and unknowledgeable poster on this board by a mile.

The worst thing is that he actually seems to believe the crap he comes out with!

If Liverpool win today they will go 5th, win all the remainng games and they will finish 5th. What a great transformation from the King. Just think if we'd of had Kenny from the start of the season.

Re: Football Chat Thread : Sun May 01, 2011 8:18 am
Two incorrect decisions, but both wrong by fractions. Cant really see why they're being described in such vitriolic terms. They raise the debate over technology again, but both decisons simply highlight the fact that officials do not have bionic eyesight.

I really dont get why Sounness, Shearer and co are saying that the officials couldnt award Lampard's goal because they weren't 100% certain the ball had crossed the line. Officials make calls all the time without the benefit of 100% certainity, in particular every marginal offside call. Granted he had to make the decision from some distance, but so did the linesman that disallowed Spurs "goal" against United a few years ago. Is there a "benefit of the doubt" rule in favour of the defense in those circumstances?

If, hypothetically, the cameras had shown that the ball had crossed the line, but only by the tiniest margin, would people still be saying that the goal should have been disallowed? The officials would still be making the decision without being absolutely certain. How far does the ball have to have crossed the line before the officials can be 100% certain?

And why aren't those that crticise the officials for allowing Lampard's goal praising them for allowing Kalou's? The offiicials certainly couldnt have been 100% certain that he was offside.
