Big wins for Citeh and Chelsea today. Will we see Liverpool wilt under the pressure after the other two already have their results in the bag? Huge challenge for us this, Allardyce knows how to ruin things for us and he has done many times. I'd love our confidence to carry on and we blow them away, but this one is much more of a nail biter compared to the Spurs game. Those results last week gave us two goals before the game was even played.

Both the rivals have convincing wins already. Away game at a dogged, tricky mid table team. These are the type of games where titles are won.

Are you for real?

I was talking about the pundits, hence my reference to the pundits at the bottom of the post.

You just made yourself look a right tit.

So which pundits have you seen talking about the very same thing we were disagreeing about at the top of the last page?

So Carragher and Neville haven't said anything along similar lines? Every one of their time filling comments passes with the FlexWheeler seal of approval, does it?

Personally I think that anyone who's been on screen talking live for any amount of time will offer a lot of nonsense comments. I like Neville and pretty much think Jamie Redknapp is terrible, but it's not like everything Neville says is genius and and everything Redknapp says is rubbish.

Its the sloppiness of many pundits that irks me. They make comments about teams and players which demonstrate that they haven't done any basic research on how those teams and players are playing. "Why isn't X playing?" when X is hopelessly out of form or has been having more impact as a sub.

David Ginola opined before the PSG V Chelsea game that "Matic absolutely has to play for Chelsea to have a chance"

Ray Parlour is awful on TalkSport, he's a walking cliche machine.

None of them come to close to Neville, whose risen to uber pundit status. I remember a few years ago he did a bit on the issue of diving, on MNF, which you can watch on youtube. Best analysis of the issue there has ever been.

TalkSport is awful full stop. They employ Stan Collymore, Adrian Durham, Ray Parlour, Sam Matterface and Colin Murray FFS.

Re: Football Chat Thread PART II : Sun Apr 06, 2014 7:59 pm
actually i quite like the adrian durham show even if he is a bit of a t**t

breaking news - in the latest mad decision in the EPL norwich have parted company with chris hughton with 5 games to go in the season, and with any new man in having to prepare them for 4 games against chelski, arsenal, manu and citeee, plus facing a 'must win' game up next against fulham

is that only hull and west ham of the bottom half clubs who haven't changed their managers?

Never listened to him. Have seen a few of his columns for the online newspaper version of TS, the Daily Mail. He's just a clickbait and phone-in troll. I doubt he's ever written or spoken a genuine opinion of his. He's just there to generate clicks and calls.

It's not that mad a decision. Norwich have been pretty dreadful and lost most of their "must win" battles. He won't get another PL job again unless he gets someone else promoted. The PL really does have an awful lot of average managers and he's failing to do anything against them.

And Villa.

Both of the above are right, Durham is a brilliant broadcaster, but he is the radio version of a troll. Many of the positions he takes on stuff he wont agree with at all, but he does it very well and they will have thousands of numpties on hold for half an hour at national phone rates wanting to lay into him.

H&J is alright , struggle to listen to much else on there

It is proper tabloid radio most of the time, if you accept it for what it is, it's fine.

It gets worse when you stray outside of the Premier League for most (which the Ginola example is probably a reflection of regarding Ligue 1). Reading the predictions/analysis for newly promoted sides is always a giveaway. Robbie Savage predicted Hull to finish bottom, which was highly likely/sensible at the time. What showed his ignorance was his reason why; because their defence was too leaky. This was a team who had been promoted with one of the best defences in their division but the worst attack in the top half of the table, with a campaign built largely upon clean sheets and 1-0 wins. Their problem was always going to be scoring goals, not their defence, which is borne out by the current table.

Of the main pundits, Lawrenson has about the most complete knowledge of the football league.
