And are Cardiff City being vilified and ostracised now because they've sold-out their history and completely changed their colours and identity to whore themselves out to Asian customers to try and make more money? No. Why does that not count as "franchising"? How different is that to what MK did? Hmmm?
lquote
well yes, Cardiff are being vilified by their own fans for the change of strip - I don't personally know of or have heard any Bluebirds fan speak well of having to play in red - it's an insult to a great club and especially their fans much like the disgust shown by the Newcastle Utd fans being outraged at losing St James Park - fortunately the gaffer saw sense and restored the dignity of the geordie outfit by resorting to the proper name

| so you're really comparing changing the design of a shirt from blue and white stripes to blue and back again to changing a clubs colours from blue and yellow to white red and black? Ok.
Oh, and we've never played in hoops.

| As you seem to have missed it, what do all these anti premier league fans who currently watch MK do should you make the top division?

...and are any supporter's groups or fans of other clubs boycotting Cardiff or Newcastle or refusing to acknowledge their existence as a result? No? Well that is exactly the fate that MK have been subjected to by hypocrites ever since their inception and yet Cardiff are seemingly worthy of different treatment for the same crime... Discuss.

I can't speak for anyone else, but for me I'll decide when we get there frankly. If season tickets are a bit dearer than they are now then I'll most certainly still go along. If they expect to bleed a grand a year out of me in line with most PL clubs at the moment then they can go stick it and I'll very reluctantly go find a lower league club to go to instead. We shall see.

Absolutely. What is fundamentally the difference? Two clubs changing their image in an attempt to maximise revenues and draw in more punters - everyone else in the football leagues does it and it's just an uncomfortable fact of life that we all have to live with in modern football.
And don't think the irony of having this discussion with a Latics fan in the first place is lost on me either. Your "lifelong" supporter base hasn't half grown mighty quick in the last 10-15 years hasn't it? Some cynics might even argue that there's probably quite a few of your "fans" who used to wear the colours of other local clubs and who've changed allegiances to come along for the premiership ride... Physician heal thyself

Looks like a green hoop to me... OK only one, but a hoop nevertheless. Consider my post edited to "hoop" singular if it makes you any happier.

| What happens when MK play the premier league club you claim to have lifelong support of earlier on this thread? Wouldn't bring up Wigans rise in crowds either. MK franchise will suddenly be playing in front of 30000 'anti modern football' fans every week if they make the top division.

| Anyway - my last word on the matter: Whatever the rights and wrongs of MK's creation (and there are many of both) it happened and is old history now. They're here now and are going nowhere. They have as much right to exist as any other club does. They have a large(ish) and fast growing supporter base of real fans who are as dedicated to and passionate about their club as anyone else is. Many, many other clubs had beginnings just as shady and questionable as MK ever did - Liverpool, Chelsea and Leeds Utd. were all literally formed from scratch for no reason other than to cynically make the owners of their stadiums money from out of the pockets of poor gullible punters. Newton Heath FC played in yellow and green and shamelessly abandoned their original community and changed their name and colours just to try and appeal to a wider supporter base and make more money. Chelsea originally played in green, Tottenham in blue, Wigan Athletic in red! Arsenal dropped "Woolwich" from their name etc. etc. etc..... Shameless identity abandoning franchise charlatans the lot of them!

When we play Liverpool I will be extremely conflicted and will probably wear my Liverpool shirt to the game as I did when we played them in the U16s last season. I will no doubt lean towards wanting an MK win but will not be unhappy whatever the outcome. I don't see why you think it would cause me a problem frankly...

*sigh* Of course we will magically find another 30,000 fans from out of the woodwork when we hit the premiership, exactly the same as any other club you boring little man. The point is purely that MK's support is no different to anyone else's - we have the same dedicated never-say-die passionate home-and-away fans and the same glory hunting part-time scumbags as anyone else does and in the same proportions. DO try and keep up...

Yes, well... whatever... I'm bored of arguing the bleeding obvious with you - if you want to argue what you'd rather I was saying instead of what I'm [iactually[/i saying then you go ahead - I won't detain you any longer.
And I'd get the "." key on your laptop looked at as it seems to be sticking rather a lot. Either that or you suck at typing anyway. Or are illiterate...
