As we were heading into injury time, I just had a very negative feeling over whether that bunch of players had the fight and discipline to hold on to the lead. And there it went, Newcastle were given the freedom of the 6 yard box to grab an equalizer.
It happens time and time again when you don't have the right manager. We should have finished level on points with United under Grant, but we heard about United getting their win and we collapsed, allowing Bolton to equalise. That kind of thing generally didn't happen under Mourinho, and it doesn't happen for United with Fergie. United and Mourinho's Chelsea score late, however they go in, but they won't concede.
On the game. We got an early lead and everyone looked good and sharp. We played really well in the first ten and it looked like a heavy win could be on the cards. And then a slack pass from Alex forced Terry to give a foul away, the ref decided that, sure, Newcastle could take the free kick from 6 ft in front of where the foul took place, and Newcastle grab an equaliser from the free kick. (I'd have to ask the real NU fans if that was a great free kick or just a mega fluke. They seemed to try it again in the second half, so that made the think it might have been something they worked on rather than just a fluke).
After that I just didn't see the extra effort from Chelsea to win the game. We plodded away and hoped the win would come, but it just didn't seem important enough for the players to put that extra effort in to earn the points.
And that's the major reason I wouldn't be bothered if Chelsea did replace CA. He just doesn't have the control of the side to drive it, he cannot make the big changes when things aren't going right, he allows his side to put in their shift but he doesn't force them to give their all.
And when their comedy keeper gives us a gift, we decide we don't want to take it and allow them to nick the draw.
I just hope Jose's been naughty with the President's daughter. Or Ronaldo really hates it playing under Jose and goes to their board and asks them to bring in a manager to let him play.
