Didn't William Webb Ellis pick up the ball and run, someone should really tell Rugby Union.

No, not at all. I just don't think there will be much sleep lost over not getting fifth.

Isn't Stekelenburg the Ajax keeper who Van Der Saar said should be his replacement at Man Utd next season ?

That BBC shot is an interesting one. Yesterday their sports page headline was something along the lines of "Manchester Celebrates Double Success". NOTW is definitely a split of the 2. TBH a club winning a cup for the 1st time in 35 years should probably lead most sports pages. Especially given the extravagant spending that's got them there.

2 more goals from Ronaldo tonight means he's got 52 this season. Messi's on 49.

Re: Football Chat Thread : Mon May 16, 2011 7:55 am
It did seem last week that a fair number of United fans (not necessarily on this forum) were taking great pleasure in the prospect that United clinching the title at Blackburn would greatly overshadow an FA Cup final victory for City.

I actually felt a short lived tinge of sympathy for United when I read the press yesterday. The fact that their title win has been on the cards for a while and was effectively clinched against Chelsea did seem to take the edge off of the Blackburn result.

And I do think that, although United's league win is clearly the greater achievement, City's win could have more of a longer lasting impact. In much the same way that United's 1990 FA Cup victory, their first trophy under Fergie, turned out to be more significant than Liverpool's last league title in the same season.

The first time I've seen you display bitterness on this forum. I never thought you'd break.

Must be the first time in Karen Brady's entire professional career 'going down' has meant a relegation rather than a promotion.

I'd say Karlos13 feels very strongly about the issue judging by his posts on the matter. I don’t think anyone else on here cares about it.

You’re wrong. According to Spurs fans on internet forums (e.g. glory-glory.co.uk), they are only a keeper and a striker off being PL champions. I kid you not.

Good to see West Ham and their cretinous fans and owners suffer. Tuck in.

TBH I only thought the likes of Chelsea, Spurs and Millwall fans disliked West Ham supporters. West Ham fans are a good laugh, in my experience. You will rarely find a City fan who has a bad word to say about them (since the whole football gang violence issues involving ICF and that all that nonsense). Fair point about Gold and Sullivan. The sight of them makes my skin crawl.

The only team near the bottom that I would like to see relegated is Birmingham. I like Alex McLeish but having lived in the West Midlands for a couple of years, I developed a dislike of Birmingham City, mainly due to the fans.
