And so you aim towards the sky,
And you'll rise high today,
Fly away, Far away,
Far from pain....

Re: Football Chat Thread PART II : Fri Dec 07, 2012 5:16 pm
If the owners of MK Dons so desparately wanted a football club in Milton Keynes, why didn't they simply purchase a club that already existed in Milton Keynes , instead of raping a club 60 miles away?

It wasn't because they are the ultimate glory hunters, much like the supporters of MK Dons, was it?

No, you don't. The events that led to MK Dons coming into being is a matter of public record. Your revisionist version of those events does not match that public record.

The events that led to the creation of MK Dons are not under debate (well, some of the finer details are, but that's all) - we all know that shady dealings were behind it all and it all stank to high hell. It certainly wasn't all as black and white as it was portrayed, and AFC had a substantial chunk of culpability in it all and they were a long, long way from the poor, sweet little innocent slaughtered lambs they have managed to have themselves painted as in the press, but it sucked big time never the less.

The validity of their existence now as a football club just the same as any other is what has been debated in these august pages by my good self and which I stand undefeated on a big pile of broken bodies on. Noone has yet offered a valid reason as to why MK Dons deserve vilification and ridicule now over and above that which any other of dozens and dozens of other clubs are at least equally worthy of, most especially all the Premier League big boys and the plastic construct that is Wigan Athletic in particular. Well, no argument besides "well, football fans just know it, that's all, so ner" anyway (Marvelous debating that by the way - Jonathan Dimbleby will soon be in fear of his job with kind of insight coming for him). Or "Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea, Man Utd all raped their communities for the first time 100 years ago instead of 10 so that's alright, and haven't change their names and colours on any of the dozens of occasions they've done it since so they don't count either"... I wonder if that's how the Holocaust Apologists started?

Again, as so often on here, try arguing with the points I am actually making, and not the ones that you'd prefer I was making instead, eh?

So Wigan Athletic were plastically constructed were they? Heres a brief look at our EIGHTY year history.

Founded in 1932 we played non league football until 1978 taking in the Cheshire league and Northern Premier League. Finally in 1978 we were elected to the football league whereas under the current rules we'd already have been promoted. We applied several times and failed but still we carried on. We even applied to the Scottish league but were rejected as the club refusrf to move out of Wigan.

Since 78 we have been relegated just once and after surviving possible liquidation rose from the bottom tier to the top in just 9 years where we have stayed since. We are the youngest club in the top flight and the only one to be promoted too but not relegated from the top tier.

If only our owners in 32 had bought a club currently in the football league and moved them to Wigan we wouldnt have been once known as the Countrys most successful non league club.

BTW I personally have watched the club since 1994.

Who do we fancy for the Manc derby on Sunday? Im not sure Utd can come back against City like they have been doing most weeks this season.

Whats Fergie going on about in his press conference?...if he wants more penalties than Man City he should play Ashley Young more

Think it will be a Man U win...which will include a Rooney penalty.

Love how you are still referring to the likes of Wigan as a plastic club, despite MK heading the exactly the same direction as they become more successful. Try not to spit your dummy out at me pointing this out this time like you did a few pages back.

Outstanding win for Nited despite Atkinson's best efforts. Cleverley, Evans, Smalling, Rooney, Valencia and RVP all excellent, everyone else did their bits too. City fans classy as ever after the winning goal. And fair play to Joe Hart making his only stop of the day when that empty-head ran on the pitch.
