My point was always that linebacker in the 43 just doesn't have the positional value to be drafted so high irrelevant of how good he is. Even in a 34 defence, the linebacker would need to be exceptional to go that high. It's the same principles for DE. DE is far more important in a 43 than a 34 hence in 2009 (?) it was a terrible pick by the Chiefs to take Tyson Jackson to play 34 DE when they could have taken BJ Raji to play NT.

If your drafting so high your problems are far more substantial than a LB.

Roger Saffold could be the next Rams player to go on IR. Out this weekend and apparently needs season ending surgery. That will be three players on IR this week if he has the surgery.

They already had a NT so they didn't need Raji but they had no 3-4 ends so they needed Jackson.

The 3 most important spots in a 3-4 are the 3 defensive linemen (especially in the 2 gap system RAC runs). As for Raji I don't know if the Packers run a 1 or 2 gap scheme so I wouldn't know if he would have even fit in at Kansas.

The worst reach in recent memory for me is Alualu by the Jaguars, had a rating of somewhere in the late first round and they picked him in the top 10. The massive trade to pick Sanchez was daft by the Jets too because if they stayed put they could have taken Freeman instead.

Didn't he spike the ball basically so it almost hit a defender in the face when it bounced back up??

If he had deliberately spiked it off his head I could have understood it, but it wasn't even close to hitting him FWIR

TBF Freeman doesn't look much better than Sanchez at the moment. Sanchez also has playoff victories etc plus it's very easy to make picks a couple of years after the event. Look at Mr Brady, I somehow think he would carry a rather higher draft valuation these days

Yep just checked now and QB's taken before Brady in 2000:
1st round:
Chad Pennington

2nd round:
Giovanni Carmazzi (who?)
Chris Redman

5th round:
Tee Martin

6th round:
Marc Bulger
Spergon Wynn (who)

Just shows how off the mark some scouts can be and how some players just can't adapt to the NFL.

The biggest thing the Jets did wrong with the Sanchez pick is the sheer amount they gave up to get him:
1st round pick, 2nd round pick, Kenyon Coleman, Abram Elam and Brett Ratliff

Considering they lost a lot on the D line and are shocking at safety, they could have really done with Coleman & Elam.

Could be a good discussion this. Great draft steals. The one that stands out for me since I started following the sport is Marques Colston. Guys a top class WR and was picked up late in the 7th by the Saints. Think he might've put up a 1000 yard rookie season.

sorry pal, must have got that idea from this post. Also one saying you didn't rate any of the quarterbacks. You sure you watch a lot of football? I'm no expert myself which is why I stay clear of silly statements.
