Friedel, quite rightly, has gone to a club where he'll probably play regular football. All players should do that, unless you're Michael Owen, where taking the backseat and basking in the glory is the epitome of his career.
Bolton and Hull City were two of the clubs heavily linked with Owen when he left the north east comedy club.
Only the saddest, bitterest scousers begrudge him seeing out his career at United.
They have reason to be peed off at him when he left Liverpool, but not for accepting the chance to see off his playing career at one of the top clubs in Europe.
In possibly-related news, Mark Hughes has left Fulham
Villa don't want him, they want Moyes.....Hughes heading for Chelsea in a role under a director of football.
Kenwright holds the key to Moyes' future.....Can he sell the idea of selling your best players and being content to finish top half, year after year to the ambitious Moyes, while Lerner offers him a tidy deal which involves an ample spending pot??
Bill's a persuasive man, but Moyes must surely be tempted to go down the M6??

I think Moyes will stay until the United situation is sorted. He's got to be considered by them you would think? He has done a wonderful job at Everton, building a side that is always two or three real quality players away from being a Champions League side, all with pretty much no investment. [Asks a Liverpool fan what the words are, oh yeah 'net spend']

By two or three real quality players, do you mean players like Messi, Xavi and Iniesta? If so, I'd slightly agree.
Still, I'm surprised so many think Moyes will get the United job; why is this? Me personally, Moyes is sort of stuck. He has the choice of:
a) Staying in the same, pressure free environment. Little is expected of him and little is expected of the club, so leaving makes little sense when his reputation is still sky high yet he has it so easy.
Or
b) He goes to a club where he'll be given cash, little time to 'build' and things like European qualification and domestic cup pushes are expected. He has money to spend, but he's also renowned to be extremely picky in the market. Will more cash being available mean he'll go out and spend more recklessly? Can he handle the expectations of a club with ambitions higher than 8th? Can he turn a mid-table side into a top side, or is he only capable of turning the average into decent?
He's a good manager but there's a lot to be asked of him. I don't think moving to Villa would be a good move, sure, money's there to spend, but if he wants to move on, he has to 'step up' and ask more of his abilities. Villa would be a poor choice, IMO.

I can't stand Owen because he's a grade A tool. He's a lowlife and he revels in his role of 'villain', when he knows full well what he meant to many Liverpool fans. Not only that, but he contradicts himself in the most Manc way, it truly is embarrassing. As I posted on here once, after Liverpool won the Worthington Cup once, he came out and said 'I don't feel like I deserve a medal, I should give it to the fans as I didn't play much part in it', or words to that effect. Compare it to Owen now, who was saying things like 'Forgotten what it's like to win things', 'only the CL needed to complete the haul', and, best of all, 'I scored two goals against Arsenal in a final and only got one medal, you don't get any more for playing a bigger role', or words to that effect (I am quoting him roughly, but the point is still the same). This attitude of his is embarrassing and it's him trying to defend his inability to cut it at the top anymore.
If Owen was at any other 'big club' and acted the way he does now, I'd just snigger and leave him to it, but his constant glorifying of United, when he knows full well what position he held at Liverpool (he left bitterly, but some put that aside in memory of his better times) shows he doesn't deserve anything but bitterness and vitriol.
